WTB old stuff

I'm looking for the following for the kid's machine:

SDRAM 128 or more - current is 64 & 128 @ 100
PCI video card - current is ATI 8MB - can't do much with it
AMD K6 chip - current is 450

Looking for CHEAP stuff - my 7 year-old son is coming up with 50% so nothing really expensive please

i think i have a slot a board with a 750mhz chip.. i dont know if you are looking to replace the whole board/cpu or just the cpu.

in terms of socket seven the best thing out there was the amd 550. i've heard rumers of a 600 but i'cve never seen one.

I have a asus mobo, the p5A-B (baby at) it has agp.... plus it overclocks like a MOFO plus it will let you get an agp video card which is MUCH better.

did i mention it overclocks like a mofo?

but i *may* also have a 533 amd (which really is a 550) let me check if it still works, i know i pulled the heat spreader off of it but... yea... let me check.

Thanks to everyone! Were slowly getting this little puppy together. We really appreciate PimpRig and the people here. LuckyBob, thanks for the offer but I think we'll go with the Slot A board as it gives us more options for the future. Thanks again PimpRig!!!!

Slot A??? Dont you really mean Socket a? Slot A proc's are harder to come by so i would say stick with socket a :-)

actually GOOD boards are even harder to find than the processors. A lot of 2nd rate boards are out there and almost ALL AMD boards blew caps. I quite literally have 5 1ghz-1.5ghz processors and NO boards becasue of bad caps.

Thats why I also only buy asus. becasue only asus boards survived teh "cap crisis" of that era. In fact i have a K7M and i think a 650 gathering dust. I was going to overclock it into the ground but if you other deals go south look me up.

Thats good to know! I was a socket a user all my life, and i have survived the "cap crisis" (as you said), and i had cheaper boards.

So i guess i didnt really follow up on the older stuff back when the older stuff was new since i was sitting on a fairly good system in its day.
