 | well, there are pci-e cards for like $50 and up on newegg... some use your system memory, some have 128mb onboard, etc... maybe a nvidia 6600LE? radeon x700? they are under $100. why do you want a cheap pci-e card anyways? |

Welcome aboard to PimpRig, pythnguy it is going to be great one my freind, Thrasher2 should be along soon with his welcome greetings and very helpful links for you to check out. You have come to what i have found to be one of the best site to learn how to mod and find out problems with your computers and other great things. You will also find out alot of fello pimps and pimpets are here that will try to help you out with any kind modding and pc problems you might have. | when thraser hit the seen all i could do is laugh. thank you much for your help. the reason i want a cheap (price) card is that i am on a budget and i have 300 i have the board and a venice now i need memory and a video card. i have memory atleast 768 all ddr400. |

| If your board supports DDR, then you will want to run only 512 until you get that fourth stick. Even then many boards will not DDR with 4. With 3 it will definitely run slower than with 2 matched sticks..

| yeah, when you get memory, more isnt always better, if your board supports it, go down the dual channel route... either get 1 512mb stick now, and another later, or 2x512mb sticks now if you can afford it. but, if all you want is 512mb total, then look at 2x256mb sticks.. (they come in little packages specifically meant for dual channel... doesnt mean other ram WONT do it, it just means these are guaranteed to work). dual channel makes a significant enough difference, that its worth taking the extra time and effort doing a little homework and getting the right set of ram. 2 sticks of 256 ddr400 in dual channel is way better than a single stick of 512 of the same speed. and, akita, to comment on you.. most boards with 4 ddr slots, you can be fairly creative with dual channels... i.e. if he got 2x256mb sticks now, and then wanted to get another 512mb stick down the road, you can have them in dual channel, as long as the memory is the same speed/chip/manu... and the sides have to match, so as long as there is 512mb on each side, then usually it works just fine. |
