Default WTB: Thermalright socket A HSF (SP-97/SLK947U)

like the thread title says, I'm looking to buy a Thermalright heatsink. SVC had some SLK-947Us in stock but they sold out before I could get hold of one.

Specifically, I want either the SLK-947U or the SP-97, I am willing to pay 30 (negotiable) plus shipping or trade for it.

for trades please look at my FS thread: http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread.php?t=52951

I have a SI-97, but let me tell you, it is worse than my Volcano 12 I am using right now

my PM inbox is full right now, so please contact me on AIM or by email andrevas@andrevas.net

thanks for your time.

What kind of temps were you getting with the SI-97 on your Barton compared to your Volcano 12? And what kind of fan were you using with it? I'm kind of interested in it

About 4C higher across the board with teh same fan, a 92mm TT Silentcat (52cfm 21db but I'd say more like 27-28 db)

Think about it, it's not solid copper, low surface area, relies solely on the heatpipes for heat transfer, and crappy lug bracket with not enough pressure on the core.

Buy something that bolts thru the mobo

I would use a Zalman to save this hassle, but, I had one and it wouldn't fit my AN7 because of some friggin caps in the way.

I consider all other heatsinks junk, and I've tried so far: Volcano12 w/ 92mm fan, Aerocool GT1000, and the SI-97, they all sucked.

I doubt you will be able to find one man, I couldn't even find them on ebay.

I found this though, prolly the only closest thing. SLK-700, quite an old heatsink.

yeah, ebay has been useless the last 2 weeks. one more week of hunting, then if nothing comes up I'm getting the Swiftech MCX462-V to pair with this 64CFM Enermax 92mm sitting here.

Just FYI, the SLK-900U fits the AN7 just fine. The 947U is a 900U that was lightly modified to fit more boards. But the AN7 never had a problem accepting 900U's in the first place; performance is identical.

I know, it's not much help. But it's one more possibility that may work out for ya... Good luck!

The only extra heatsink I have is a Thermalright AX-7 (Socket A, 80mm fan). You're welcome to it, but you'd probably get better performance from that Switftech.

I ran a Zalman on my AN7, just had to cut one of the mounting bars a bit.

Looks like Hibiki came up with the answer in this thread. Thermalright lets you buy directly from them. Sounds like they sell off their old stock (for a discount even). Ronnie5938 got a SP-97 for $33.

If this works out for you, be sure to give Hibiki some rep!

Regarding the Swiftech MCX462-V, it should serve you well as long as your ambient temps aren't too high and you remember to clean out the dust that makes it's way into the helical pins fairly regularly. I was amazed at my temp drop after the first time I cleaned out the one I have and I am not even using the greatest of 92mm fans (Vantec Thermaflow).
I am going through a very similar situation with a heatsink I am looking for, the Swiftech MCX462 (notthe -V model). I am getting one from another pimp but some of the mounting hardware is missing. I am also bidding on one on eBay at the moment but you know how that can go.
