its a IBM R40 laptop
2.2 gig P4 mobile CPU
CPUID 29
512 L2

no memory or HD

the laptop has a issue of a dead NIC.
might be issues with mobo.

it does boot up, and load XP and functions fine otherwise.

i will leave the modular floppy, DVD ROM, and Battery
also it comes with a XP Pro COA.
I will send any CDs with it as well
if you want memory with it, we can talk about the extra costs.

for this whole thing, i would like to get $150.
i could be bribed with a trade of 250 gig seagate barracuda SATA HD
maybe some decent OCing memory
or whatever. i cant really say im looking for any particular trades or anything. so send a PM

Have you personally booted the lap up, or are the problems second hand knowledge , Thinking here if its a nic problem only thats not a big deal . there are other ways to connect a nic.Might be interested ,depending on what your reply is ,Anywho have a great Fri,>>>Mike

What type of memory does it take? I might be intrested. If you can get me some more info, what series it is, pics and i might buy it if its not sold. Have you personally seen it boot or what?

Edit: I have 512mb of G.Skill PC4400. It has TCCD chips.

yes i have personally booted this laptop, and installed a OX on it.

this was a laptop that a user sent in to be reimaged, and it was determined to have a bad onboard NIC. there might be other issues with this laptop, that is why i am basicly selling it just for the CPU.

this laptop is a fully functioning laptop minus the NIC.

If i included the HD and a 256 meg stick of memory, i will charge $300 for the laptop.

nothign special about the laptop pics wise. it looks just like any other R40 laptop. LCD is in good shape.
keyboard is intact, and so is the casing. no cracks or anything.

OK.So you say there might be other issues, Well thats telling me that there are other issues and your not coming quite clean on what the issues are. Or am i totaly wrong here reading between the lines? Are you offering a full refund if there are other issues?

why the hell are you guys trying to make this complicated?


i am not selling a fully functional laptop. read the damn title, i am selling the CPU, and the rest of the laptop.

if you want to try to fix teh laptop, go right ahead and knock yourself out.

i am selling the CPU, and thqat is why i have been saying that it boots and POSTS without any problems.

if i was going to sell the laptop as a functioning unit, i would say so.

i will offer a refund on the CPU, but nothing for the rest of the unit.

Lol you seem so hostile,, but i did read your original post, You are def making it sound like this is a fully functional laptop except for the NIC, issue, But then you leave yourself and out. saying might perhaps have other issues. Just wanted to read between your lines of actully what you are really offering , i am sure im not the only one that had these questions. I donÂ’t mean to thread crap. But for $370 cantina I would rather spend an extra $200 and get a brand new laptop from dell with a warranty. $370 for a busted-up laptop with no way to hook to the internet, a hard drive of unknown size and "RAM" doesnÂ’t seem like a very good deal. Lets not even get started if it has a chargable battery.




I think you might want to revise your price a bit.

Or part it out better:

Just selling the LCD and then post some links to controllers people could buy to use it in mods would be one idea.

Just sell the cpu by itself, links to site about its performance/socket type and so on.

Tell us what this "HD/RAM" is. IÂ’m sure there are people around here that would like to stick an extra 256 in there older laptops if the price it right. Use that hard drive in a external enclosure

Dude, seriously, maybe you need to take a class in reading comprehension, all that stuff he said is for people who would be interested in fixing the laptop, and that the NIC is bad should someone use it for more than the CPU. It's that simple really.

Now, TCG_Modder, is the CPU a standard socket 478 chip? I've heard they aren't sometimes in mobile applications, so I'm just checking.

2.2 meg P4 mobile CPU for sale or trade. This is from a IBM Thinkpad R40 laptop.
the laptop is still in working condition other than a bad network card failure that MIGHT be due to other issues with the motherboard. if there are any.

lol. you guys r mean. tcg take it to ebay man. If it works fine minus the nic someone would jump on that. I had a 600e thinkpad with nic problems and it turned out to be a driver conflict.
