| Apex Tech Fanatic | Sorry, ya i did get the PM, but forgot all about it. there shouldnt have been any software that shipped with those compaq computers. If there was, i doubt like in your case it would work with that system, as there was no way to tell what box went with what model of comp. If you have a OEM cd that was in the box, my best advice is to look on the web for a CD key, or if you already have one, there are ways around the OEM to install on any system. it will reuire editing a file ( i dont remember which) but ther eis a file in the install that tells what kind of install CD you have. any cd tor MS that you use to install the OS has this file and you can edit it. it basicly says that the CD is a OEM, a corp edition, a retail, and so on. so if you have a legit retail COA, you could edit thise file, burn the files to a new cd and you have a install CD. actually, if you have a COA, the install CDs are cheap as hell. its the COA that your spending the cash on. |
