Brand new board. I will be performing certification tests on it to ensure functionality. (It's so new that I am still waiting on the rest of the support infrastructure/hardware to be able to RUN the tests). Comes with manufacturer's warranty. I will provide all of the serial numbers and all that jazz when I get home tonight.

Retails for $401.70. http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merch...ricewatch&NR=1

Manufacturer's website: http://www.tyan.com/products/html/th...dpro_spec.html

*edit*

my bad for not reading the rules first - thought that it would have been pretty simple, but guess that there's a little more to it than that. I've never sold anything on the net before; but for those that've read my posts, I wouldn't be messing around with a Sun Ultra 60 if I didn't know what I was doing. You be the judge.

Anyways, to address some of the issues/concerns that were raised (thank you to those that flagged it down for me):

contact info: chan6924@kettering.edu or PM me. I usually check my email fairly frequently, so I can reply to that faster than anything else.

Terms of Payment (preliminary): I've never used Paypal to receive money before; so I honestly don't know what to expect. Therefore; if any body has any tips, hints, pointers - every little bit helps. So I guess that what ever Paypal accepts. Cheques, money orders will have to wait until it clears (pretty standard). No cash (regardless of form, also pretty standard.)

The initial offer price is USD 401.70. (If I didn't explicit define that earlier, I am doing so now.) IT IS negotiable. Remember that the board is brand new. I will be spending probably about a week with it to run all the certification checks on it to make sure that everything works.

(Just because I've never sold anything doesn't mean that I don't know what buyers go through in their minds. I've bought stuff to, and will provide screencaps.)

Shipping: I haven't decided on whether the buyer is going to cover the cost of shipping or I am. I am hoping to have a decision on that later on tonight. Because this is my only board, therefore; I cannot replace it if it's DOA. However, it is covered by the full manufacturer's warranty, and again, I will provide all information necessary for you to check that out for yourself. If possible, I WOULD like to cover the cost of shipping myself, just to make it easier for you guys. I HATE it when people mess with S&H charges. Upon invoice, I will give the cost breakdown (so whatever price you pay me - minus shipping = price for the board). If you have a preference for a courier, let me know in advance. I WILL NOT SHIP UPS unless specified (at which point, you will agree to take all responsbility for lost or damaged items.) Chances are, I will probably ship FedEx (ergo; won't be able to ship to P.O. Boxes (unless specified).) f DHL is available; I would prefer that. They're more pricy, but for electronics stuff, they're awesome and you get what you pay for. Shipping will be coming out of zip code 48504. I don't have package dimensions or weight yet, and when I do, you can find the shipping quotes yourself. (Not that there would be any additional charge to you except for those aforementioned.)

Package contents:
One (1) Tyan Thunder K8SD Pro (S2882-D) Retail box.
Consult motherboard manual for detailed contents list.

>>NOTICE<< I am not the owner of the ISP account; therefore, I don't have an ISP address. The address listed is the school's email addy. If the moderators read this, and catch that - that's the nomadic life of a Kettering student. I hope that it is satisfactory. Yes, I recognize it, so if you WANT, submit the blank paperwork (forms) for me to fill out to pull and exception #, an alert ID, and a concern #, and I will have that information sent back to you. I also recognize the remark regarding "real addresses" therefore; at the moderator's discretion, I can either put my place of residence (since I don't actually live at the school thankfully) or I can put the school's address. WERS suck.

Have I missed anything else?

re: heatwave account - I will probably create that when I get out of work tonight.

ANY QUESTIONS - PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK.

I already have the item. I got it during a conference about a week ago. Why am I selling it - because I already have [wait....counting...] 3 UNIX servers, one of the dual MP systems that's my game server, another dual MP system that cross-functions as server/workstation and another workstation that cross-functions as the everything machine (gaming/workstation/server). I also need to switch to a workstation board for system logistical/management reasons.

If you guys want, I CAN try to beat on it as a gaming server to test its performance if you're interested in finding out. (I would need to try to round up a few people so we can have a LAN party - experienced gamers unlike me) to beat on it and that way I can bring up the system management console to record it's performance (unless someone knows of a way to force it to dump the results to a text (log) file.) From what I've been told, I think that a dual Opteron 246s should be able to support 32 players on Raven Shield very nicely. Say the word, and I will test it (only on request of course).

If you're unsure about something - certification, compliance, etc....ask.

If you're looking for a dual MP system, I am pretty sure that we can work something out if you want. That way, it would keep my system count the same. PM or email me.

There's something called "work"....ever heard of it? (hehe..j/k). it's like...post...meet the new guy....check the post...run 50,000 cycles on a test fixture...drive/drop off a guy to wherever he needs to go/be...come back...touch base with the new guy again, talk about plans for tomorrow...prep the trip to Cleveland...check post again...thinking about picking up supplies for work...and now i'm back....modifying the posts and replying/address the issues/concerns.

(Thank goodness I didn't post this last Wednesday late at night because between Thursday and Friday, I manage to clock in 22.5 hours for a design release). Like I said...work.

*edit*
revised price due to typo. My apologies. It is listed as $401.70.

Well first you need an asking price, your actually missing a bit more than that. Look at the trading rules then revise your post

Also, I was wishing it was a dual socket A motherboard hehehe, I saw Tyan and clicked...worth a shot.

I am just slightly curious? If it retails for 407 bux why are you selling it for 411 bux? I am not trashing on your thread I was just wondering if that was a typo because its an obvious question.

Oops. It's supposed to be $401.70 - typo. I'll fix it. And works its way down. Not up. Hopefully that helps to clarify things. (like if I can sell it for $300. great) if it's more great. If it's less, well..depends on how much less. Maybe with the money I get from this, I can finally a gaming video card that I would use about 10% of the time.

read the original thread please.

The MP system runs great. Very fast numerically. I think that the last time I clocked it, it was doing around 5.5 GFLOPS.

What do you mean by "30$ for a public 12 player server"? I'm not sure that I fully understand that.

I know that it's a length read, but if I had it MY way, I would have prefered to have broken that down into multiple posts, but apparently from what I've been told - that's against the rules, so it's like....either way...you're screwed. *shrug*

The "down" side of writing like how I think. (Takes me longer to type it all out at 120 wpm than it does it generate it.)

*edit*
I am just about ready to finish up with testing the Tyan Thunder K8SD Pro (S2882-D) board.

Here are the benchmark results:

SiSoft Sandra
Dhrystone: 19224 MIPS
Whetstone FPU: 7053 MFLOPS
Whetstone iSSE2: 8244 MFLOPS

Cinebench 2003 32-bit
1 CPU: 96.1 s, 274 CB-CPU
X CPU: 52.0 s, 506 CB-CPU
MP speedup: 1.85

Cinebench 2003 64-bit
1 CPU: 73.1 s, 360 CB-CPU
X CPU: 39.9 s, 660 CB-CPU
MP speedup: 1.83

All running on Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

I didn't run any of the video benchmarks because it only has an 8 MB onboard video. Didn't see any value in it, plus I don't have the proper drivers for WinXP64.
X CPU: 660

Windows Server 2003 x64 Enterprise Edition

Cinebench 2k3
1 CPU: 72.8 s, 361 CB-CPU
X CPU: 39.8 s, 662 CB-CPU
MP speedup: 1.83

Maya 6 rendertest SW
38 s

mental ray

thanks. It IS a good board, I just can't/don't have a use for it (in addition to any more computers, and I am going to overload my in-house/in-room electrical circuit and trip the breaker.) Spent a week testing it and benchmarking it to make sure that it worked. And now it sits - it a box (with the original anti-static bag of course).

Such a shame to see it just SIT there.

I will include shipping to lower 48 states via DHL.
