Here's an idea... I know Duck Warrior posted some rules for this area, and to setup an account with www.heatware.com to get feedback for other people, but what about making reputations internal for buying, selling, and trading?

I'm part of an automotive forum where people buy, sell and trade ALL the time. They created a vouch system for everyone, where you create your own vouch thread, and maybe put that link in your signature so that people can see who you've bought and sold from and see if they're any good. That way, you sort of know who you're buying from.

Let's say I buy something from DuckWarrior... it went awesome, price was great, shipping was fast, and he was great to deal with. I would then find his vouch thread, he would find mine, and we would leave positive feedback for each other, that way, if anyone wanted to buy or sell anything to us, we would know that that person is easy to deal with and prompt with making deals.

Just an idea to throw on the table... lemme know what you guys thing!

Sounds good - maybe the reputation points comments could be made public and we could just use those for trading also. You could leave good or bad reputation points depending on how the trade went and they would be viewable by others.

I think it sounds an awful lot like Heatware, except Heat will be taken at face value on trading forums all over the net.

An internal system would be meaningless outside of PR.

Why not just use Heat? Adding another layer seems redundant IMO.

i agree with put. heatware would probably be easier especially if you go to more than one forum. plus it would mean less threads being ressurected for adding reps and less strain on PR servers if it were to be implemented by GK

Agreed, putwig. I think that's the entire advantage of Heat. If some noob walks on here selling stuff, we can check his heat history to see if we can trust him.

You guys have a point.....I retract my previous idea. By the time someone would have a negative rating they will have screwed a couple of us over - might as well use the Heat.

Ho well... was worth a shot. I didn't know Heat was used that much, to be honest, havn't really checked it out.

It really is pretty simple. If a noob comes selling stuff, and has unimpressive (or no) references, you say:

"I am really interested in your product, and hope we can deal. I am an established member here and because you are new, I will expect you to ship first. I will pay promptly upon receipt of the goods. I hope you understand. If you have any concerns, I am sure many around here will attest to my good character."

If they don't accept the terms ........ you shop elsewhere.

Heatware is good but for one flaw that I have seen in other forums, Alot of people wont buy from you if you dont have a heat account, but the other prob is, if noone will buy without a heat acc, then how will you ever establish one

Not knocking it in any shape or form as I said its a great idea, but its a pain to get one started cause noone buys from the newer peeps.

In this case it should go like Putwig says...ship first in an act of good faith. If the buyer values his Heat account, he will pay unpon recieving the goods.

That is not true. I will gladly deal with new users, providing they are willing to ship first.

You earn trust, and positive heat.

They can always ship COD...If the item is not paid for on reciept the item is not released...

That sounds like a great idea! Im all for it, that we know whos trustable and stuff. But what about if someone completly lies and marks you down for no reason?

I dunno.... maybe the admins could remove it by deleting the post?

Well, since I saw that nobody really liked this idea... I see that something of the likes has been put into place. Since I've been off line since May, when did this actually start? I've noticed a little Ebay type trader rating under everyones name.

This is generally along the lines of something I suggested to the mods...

A la TrollHunters, a Bad Traders thread, where sweet deals gone bad can be reported, and serve as a warning to more junior members, who may be desperate enough to start/boost their HeatWare ratings, as to trade with an unknown... It would be more for trades initiated through the PR Trading Post, but as more and more users may be members of more than one forum site, the word would get out on bad traders faster, hopefully shutting them down sooner... Any thoughts?
