Need to add Glide functionality to my Gateway mod. Will trade, have tons of goodies I need to get rid of. Preferrably a Black Magic, it has a black PCB. If you have the pass through SLI cable as seen in the picture I will trade extra for it, I'm getting one Voodoo 2 and I wanted another so i can run _two_ Voodoo 2's.

Just wondering, what " Glide functionality "? I hope its something amazing to make up for the 12 mbs of video memory lol old voodoos where so kewl.

i think with the glide function it combines the power of both cards into one..or sumthing along those lines

n00barts *ho slaps Clown and Tycoon* Glide is kinda like Direct3D and OpenGL, but wayyyy faster. You can download Glide wrappers so your ATi or nvidia card can play in Glide mode but it's not the same thing. Glide was developed by 3dfx for use with their cards only.

You're close. The thing where you run two of them is called SLI mode, Scan Line Interleave mode, it's how the Voodoo 5500 and XGI Volari V8 Duo does dual processing.

Essentially the Voodoo 5500 is two Voodoo 4500's. Because AGP doesn't like SLI mode and having two processors on one card because it was not designed for that, you can't run the Voodoo 5 at AGP 2X or 4X, it requires a 66MHz AGP bus speed to run, you can set it to 2X or 4X in BIOS but nothing will happen.

Also, the Quantum Obsidian X-24 24MB was two Voodoo 2's on one board and it used SLI mode to function. The X-24 is it's own card unlike the Voodoo 2 which requires a separate videocard to run.

That cable is called an SLI passthrough cable, it connects two Voodoo 2's essentially adding 24MB of RAM to your current video card. I know people who have Athlon 64's with 3 gig of RAM and a 9800XT with one or two Voodoo 2's on them. They are really neat cards in that they work like a supercharger bolt-on to your current videocard. Back in the day they cost hundreds of dollars. I remember talking to Charlie, he had two on his machine back when they were hot.
