| Ok, so I have 2 huge enclosures that I will be getting rid of in the near future. I have taken pictures but I did not have time to make them web-ready here at work today so I will hopefully get the pics up on Monday since work is my only option for uploading since the library has their cases locked up with no USB access. At any rate if any of you want to know what they look like bad enough before then here is what the original units were called: Scitex microWhisper I/O Workstation Kodak Approval Interface Module I also have an even bigger enclosure that is available for the right price/trade which I should also have pics for on Monday and it as called a Scitex Dolev 200 Imagesetter. Till then......... | ||

| Ok here are some of the pics. Hopefully I will have time for the second set tomorrow. The first picture is of my 2 medium sized enclosures (still huge compared to even a tower) and the rest today will be various shots of the one on the right... the Kodak Approval Interface Module. Second picture shows view with side panels, top panel, back panel, and front bezel off. Notice the ventilation in the interior plates. | ||

| I'm still looking for some kind of spec sheet for it and the Scitex rig as well, but my only computer time right now is at work and I have been fairly busy lately. I just sent off my RMAed mobo today though so if I don't find the specs beforehand, I will have them soon...... if they can be found on the net as both are no longer manufactured. The Kodak one is still supported though so I should be able to find something for it. | ||

| I still have not been able to finda decent spec sheet on either of these as they are "old equipmant" by industry standards but I am still looking. As for the weight, I am not sure how heavy the Kodak is without anything in it but as it sits now it weighs around 60-70lbs (estimated) so shipping would be much more of a bear loaded with the internals. The Scitex case stripped down is still around 30lbs itself (again estimated) but the outer panels and bezel are heavier than the Kodak's as well. Shipping would obviously be determined by your location as well. | ||

| wow is that a telephone exchange or an actual stoneage word processor? LOL i remember that wierd coloured (think its anodized) steal they used - it was everywhere. THose fans on top look the dee didly daddys, but considering the age of this beast are they viable for rig insertion? coz if they are all AL or steal, theres gonna be a few years of corrosion on there. | ||

| There is no corrosion on either of these enclosures, they were both indoor machines. One (the Scitex MicroWhisper) was a RIP (Raster Image Processor) station, and the other (the Kodak) was a front-end I/O workstation for a Kodak Approval color proofing system (which, btw, is available to me if I choose to disassemble it and haul it off, along with the laminator for it). CD: As for the HDD racks, I am not sure about the Kodak unit yet as I have not gutted it. The Scitex unit "kinda" does though. It has 2 slide out trays (that clip in) for 5.25" platter HDDs. There are better pictures of it HERE in this thread. | ||

Just a little info. Only Aluminum and Titanium can be anodized. The coating on the old steel cases is Zinc Chromate (I think) it is some sort of zinc coating im sure if not. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Update! I am planning on getting rid of these as soon as humanly possible so here is the offer (mostly to midwestern pimps). I will give away either of these cases (one only apiece so I can spread the love) to anyone that is willing to make the drive to pick it up. As usual, first one to PM me with interest gets first dibs so the first 2 timestamp on PMs will get first choice. If you are wondering how far you are from me, just do a mapblast search on Grinnell, IA. WARNING - These enclosures will require modding to fit an AT or ATX board as they do not have "standard" mobo trays. Of the 2 cases in the left pic of post #3, only the left one has been gutted and pics of it can also be seen here in posts 1-5. http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread.php?t=16095 The one starting at post #6 I am keeping for my own unique project which I will be starting after my current project is done. Good luck! Last edited by godfoot; 24-September-04 at 03:49 AM.. | ||
