Hey Team Pimprig!

I just got rollin' onto this f@holding business and got my 2.0Ghz gaming rig and my 500Mhz internet machine folding. I had the folding console and stats stuff downloaded at the beginning of the year, but I wasn't havin' the heat it was making my rig churn out. But now that I've got the A/C runnin', I'm foldin' like mad.

I figured: my main rig idles for a minimum of 14 hours everyday, and more realistically around 19-20 hours a day. It manages to crank out a single frame in about 5-6 minutes, but my 500Mhz internet box has been running for at least a half hour and it still hasn't finished it first frame. But every bit counts right?

I got one question for the folding gurus: I got a standard stats sig successfully put into my signature, but I was trying to get the dark gray sig to show and couldn't for the life of me get it to work. Anyone care to help?

edit- oh btw- how long will it take for the first of my stats to show?

As for the stats, they won't show up until you complete your very first WU. Usually a day or two after that is more realistic since from what I understand, GK has to update the sig info manually. Rest assured tho, your stats will show up.

As for the sig, I don't know a whole lot about that. Been trying to find out more info myself. I do know a friend tried different "bg" values and it showed some different sig backgrounds. like "bg=1" "bg=3" etc. forget how many he said there were. Hopefully one of the more knowledgeable members can help you more with that part.

Got the sig figured out T2!

I got 2 instances of F@H Standford's no bs console running on my main machine, and all I get is 400 frame WU's. I also got my dad's machine running 1 instance, though once it becomes my brothers, I'm gonna runna 4 instances cause its dual procs. And I only get 400 frame WU on his machine too. they take about 2 days to complete. but, woot, I gaining some ground. If my calculations are correct, I will surpass T2 in 1 million years.


Also, doesnt anyone know how i should go about backing up my work because I plan on doing a fresh install sometime around the end of the summer.

yeah, I've got about 2.3million years before I overtake him, according to my fantasy world.

You can run multiple instances on a single core proc? I was aware you could only run one instance per core. I read in the F@Holding section somewhere that each core represents a machine ID and there can only be one instance per machine ID... hmm.

I just assigned it a different ID, and BAM!!!! 100% cpu usage. but I have priority set to low, so when i need the power, I can have it.



Edit: I wonder what my parents will say to the increase in the power bill............o well. Keep F@H!

From what I understand, it can be done, but it's pointless to run two instances on a single CPU. Much better results to just run 1 instance @ 100%. Running two, they're just fighting over the cpu usage, so neither is working at full speed.

I believe the stanford website explains it better, but I'm almost positive they do say to only run 1 instance per core.

I never ran the first instance at 100% always 50%. So I just created another instance to to grab that 50% of untapped power when I'm away which is usually 15-24hrs. depending

I know what you're saying. I just think you'd get better results if you dropped one instance and just ran a single one at 100% all the time. Just my take on it tho. As long as you're Folding, you're cool with me.

Nother question real quick.

I've noticed a little performance hit after running F@H and was wondering how I can double check and make sure the priority is set to low?

from what i gather there are two ways using the task manager and look for the fahcore _7acore exe or the fahcore_65exe and right click priority that is the fastest and the 1st the other way is to the work log text in the folding at home folder

i got 3 instances running on my 3800 x2 2 gigs of ram 2 console and one trayit version



and if your into the numbers Joing T2' Army is alway cool as well strenght in numbers

btw- must be nice to have a computer that's essentially two of mine in the same box! Argh, I need a new computer bad!
