Talking Yay! Im folding! (and soon many more UM students will be too)

Well thanks to Tattoo Im folding on my desktop and laptop and will be recruiting in my dorm and on campus! Who knows maybe I can convince the school to run it on all their computers!

One thing I would like to know is... can you have a version of folding@home that only runs if you are on AC power? Cause a lot of people would be put off from folding if they know their laptop battery is goin to die unless they remember to quit the folding program....

ygpm! i'd say to suggest the console version, and just have them shut down the F@Holding when they're going to unplug to travel. I don't know of a version that would automatically stop if running on battery. They'd just have to manually stop the program, and start back where they left off once they're plugged again.

HTRN's absolutely right. Just run the console with the -config switch first time around, choose to go into the advanced settings and say yes to the option that says "Pause if battery power is being used (useful for laptops)"

It's the 4th option in the advanced settings.

This is the direct link to the newest console version (tho, technically, the PR version you have is also a console version.)

http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandeg...04-Console.exe

All you really need to do is replace the current version you have with this one (Just make sure to rename the new file to EXACTLY the same name as the old one.)

That's what I first did when I started folding.
