| My FAH_core78.exe was running utilizing about 40mb of memory to fold yesterday..but today I looked at it and its down to 17mb. So I left the computer alone for several hours and cut processes but it still didn't come back up. With 2GB's worth of ram I would really like to push it way past 40mb especially when the computer is not doing much and that is the main program running. If anyone can tell me what to tweak to get it back up, and possibly even further let me know. As of now I have the Core Priority ( under the advanced tab) set to 100% and allowing more than 5 mb wu's. Just a quick thought but could the load of the work unit bring it up to 40, and maybe now that I'm working on a less demanding one it went down? Or is that user defined? Alright well thank you for any answers. | ||

| Just because the folding core isn't occupying the same amount of RAM as it used to, it doesn't mean it's not working any less efficiently. Maybe the core is working on a set of data that isn't as big as a previous one, as I think not all of them are the same size. I'm sure HighTechRedNeck or Thrasher2 can confirm that. | ||

Your probably right. Just had to wonder. Thats pretty much along the lines I was thinking. Just wanted some other opinions. Thank you Jobistober. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| i have wu's that take up to 150mb of memory.. and then the next wu takes 12mb .... =) i think the size of the work unit has to do with how much memory it takes... the thing you want to watch for is that its set to 100% cpu and no other process is sucking away cpu usage (like firefox) | ||

| No prob Twins, and fourtunately, ThrillKill confirmed what I was thinking. I'm not an avid folder by any means... I tried it for a while, but I'm a "Cooling Whore" and can't stand to see my computer run hotter that 85F... and my roommates have the heater cranked 24/7!!! Call me crazy. But I just got my hands on an old Intel Celeron 500Mhz rig for my internet/chat machine... I might get that folding this soon. | ||

| Definately keep up the folding and don't worry about the changing ram usage . . . the key here is that the program is using exactly as much ram as it needs to use at any given moment. This shows that the ppl who coded it made it SUPER efficient and it's actually releasing memory as it no longer needs it. There aren't many programs that do that properly. D | ||
