Question Help a Hoe F@H

Help a Hoe F@H

Since upgrading my flagship to the AMD Opteron 146 my 3500+
has gotten a bit dusty and needs to get out of the box and fold or it will have to apply for food stamps.

In order to get Mr. 3.5K+ in-service some parts will be required.

IÂ’m interested in the most economical **cheap** way to get it folding again.

The minimum requirements are:
1) 1 - 939 Mobo with on board video & sound. One that can OC would be nice, if such a beast exists.

2) 1 - gig of RAM that does not cost an arm and a leg

ThatÂ’s it.
I have a HSF, a 500w PSU, a CD-RW, a 120G IDE HDD and a case to house it in.

Can you help a hoe find the best deals to make it earn it's keep?

What is the cheapest way to get Mr. 3.5K+ back to work on the next cure?

Thanks for any assistance you may provide.

I'll see what i can dig up for a board , as for video, let me know if ya need AGP or PCI , and i'll mail one your way. It aint gonna play games but it will give you a picture and if all your gonna do is fold , that should do Also if you need a netwoar card or anything hit me up.

that was a no brainer that my frontal lobe did not think of. A NIC is also needed.

I was hopeing to get a mobo that included video, sound and NIC.

Ill have to do more research because I dont know if a loaded 939 board exists.

hmmmmm seems like $500 is still the mark that will get this puppy back on track

some gaming would be nice, the Gkids will be playing on it too.

AGGGHHHH smoething so simple is so costly

looks like newegg may have to cough up the parts.

oh well its for a god cause, folding and Grand kids do deserve attention.

Pharaoh, PM me your shipping info, I have an extra NIC you can have, no worries about shipping. Consider it your belated Xmas present...

EDIT: I was looking at some parts for a build for a fam member... There are mATX boards that have all that stuff, OB video, NIC, and sound... With a little space for add-ons... Like this Asus, JFI

Well, i do have a board and card i could sell ya if your in the buying market. My Fatal1ty AN8 SLi & Vid card , then all ya need is ram. But GN72 is absolutly right about the mATX boards coming with everything onboard, just do a lil' diggin and you'll be able to find some.

Default Amd Infiltrators

Well Its upgraded.

Went from the AMD K7 Tbird w/ 768M 133 mem to
AMD 64 3500+ w/1G of mem.

Win XP did not like the change. On first boot it booted to a B.S.O.D. and
died before I could read the error message.

A repair install was performed and all dirvers for the mobo and chipset updated.

I wanted to see what my system had to say
and used Belarc Advisor and could not believe my eyes. So
CPUZ to the rescue. Check this out.
