Don't mean to rain on your parade, but airconditioners suck at folding... FUBAR: Addictive isn't it? I... uh... my Wife blames you all for my newly rediscovered love for expensive electronic stuff... "Honey, does the tornado shelter REALLY need a computer?" | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I installed Folding@Home the other day on an older rig in the house to give it a try. How long does a project (WU?) normally take to finish? The system it's running on is an older one,750mhz Duron, 800 some odd MB of ram. It's been going close to 3 days and currently at 205/500. Is this about typical? | ||

| Look up the protein here If it's a high point protein it'll take a while, so long as it gets completed within the stated deadline period, it'll be good ![]() That page also gives you a relative idea of how long the various work units take to complete. What work unit is it? Maybe I have some stats off one of my machines to compare it to... | ||

| Ok it's p542_BBA5_N in water, and showing a deadline of 15 days. Guess it's not doing too bad then. It's just all new to me and I had seen something about 3 days being the norm somewhere i thought. The list you pointed me at cleared things up Sportbilly...thanx | ||

| Jinx, I have a Tualatin Celeron 1.3 crunching that same unit now, and It'll be done in a total of 22 hours, so yours does seem a little lazy. That protein is a Gromacs core, reported to give pentiums a slight edge (perhaps even just the P4's) but still your machine seems a tad slow... If I had some old AMD's I might have a comparo, maybe someone else has some slower AMD machines crunching? | ||

| I was thinking slow myself...no tad to it...lol...it has been shut down here and there though by the wife, so I cant say its been running 72 hrs. Where did you get your 22 hr finishing time Sport? Is there a place to check est. finishing time? I may be installing the program on more computers here at the house, I just put it on that one first to check it out. | ||

| I use Electron Microscope III to monitor my machines, it allows you to monitor 1 or more machines, provides frame times, finishing times, and score amounts for the units. It does more too but I'm sure ya can read LOL I tried Foldmonitor too, but settled on EMIII, YMMV Keep up the good work! EDIT: Gaming will virtually stop it from folding. Watching DVD's and MPEG's will slow it down some. MP3's seem to have minimal effect. | ||

| I like that In_water one, that goes quickly and gives lots of points. I may have an increase in points for a short period of time, but my gradual decline will increase within the next week. I have one last opportunity to fire up some at work folding rigs, but they will eventually all go down. Sucks. All of them are down right now because their isn't anyone smart enough left there to fire them up. Sucks again. | ||

| Woot! 14410 points the last week, I think that's a record high (at least as long as I've been looking) and it's only 170 points a week off our archrivals the evil Russians (I don't mean Evil in the Bush Jr. sense, it's in there for dramatic effect) That's only like, one P4... Anybody got one laying around? ps Lokie... Gotcha! | ||
