| Well, just got another rig up, a 1.2 Celeron this time. The wife is ordering me one of them cutesy Shuttle SS40G's tomorrow so I can play with an AMD for a change... See what sort of numbers we can post with a 1700+ Thoroughbred... JHoop2002: Man did you walk all over me or what... LOL All I can see from here is dust (and a few little pieces of Intel chips that you stomped on)... ![]() Ben: Are you concerned about cooling on that Celeron? I think most of us do the 100% 24/7 thing, haven't heard of any problems yet ![]() Welcome to the Pimprig Folding Team BTW, great to have another on board! Maybe we'll stay ahead of Russia yet... | hey, i found that sometimes when i would run folding at 100% it would take just a tad bit longer for things to run, so i dialed it back to 96% and i can't tell it is running at all. Anyone else notice this? It's all because of AMD Sport. I have mine and then two others, the rest are intels. I have about 13 processors a week, some slow others not, and each of the 3 AMDs has outfolded any of the intel machines. So go AMD! Does anyone know a way to install this program in DOS? I am dieing to install this on some of the computers just sitting in the technology clusters here on campus, but they've prevented it. So i was wondering if i could go in through safemod command prompt or something and install this. Last edited by jhoop2002; 05-February-03 at 11:07 AM.. | ||

| I went back to the site to download the console version and saw the screensaver one. I downloaded it and installed it but it doesn't work. i leave my computer for 5 min (its set to come on in 3) and its not on, and i goto display properties and try to preview and it won't come up. What gives? | ||

| On their forums, it appears they have a lot of problems with the s/s version of the software, and really, if the console and gui versions give you back your cpu cycles when you need them why bother with the screen saver? There have even been mentions of ditching that version altogether, but the mentions all seem to come from users LOL Sport... | ||

| Sportbilly: I am not overly concerned with the celeron itself, although I would like to see some lower temps when folding. What I guess I am trying to do is see how far I can take fan cooling...I considered replacing my sidepanel with 19" server fan... but decided that it wouldnt be withen my goal of fan cooling off hte PSU (the 19 incher just plugged right into the wall) Ya, I am nucking futz, but its cool to see the reactions I get when I tell people about what I have done. Once I get my 172MM in and maybe a simple red CC, Ill post some pics. ![]() | ||

| LOL Ben, they should be interesting... I just got a 2100+ running in the shuttle ss40g the wife helped pay for, I'm now an AMD convert, this thing EATS work units for breakfast, and usually another for supper... EDIT : Turned out to be T-Bred B, not bad for 87 bucks from Googlegear... I'm borging another P4 tomorrow hopefully too ![]() I DID retire the laptop finally though, give it a rest fer a while, looks like the wife might ship out to the desert soon, so she might need it anyway... | ||

| Heh, yeah, if I wasnt so st00pid as to buy a celeron (although the number 2.0ghz impresses my n00b friends) I would have so gone AMD...It is pretty sad when my friends AMD 550 does twice the work mine can do a day. Oh well, AMD is the only way to go when it comes to folding. ![]() | ||
