Default K6-2 Folding

Sooo....I have a few K6-2 450 - 550mhz chips, but lets face it they are ALL 550's when in the hands of j-dogg

anyway, I setup one 550mhz rig and it's done 2 frames in a day. this is a K6-2, not a 2+ or a 3 or a 3+, but a 64kb L2 cache chip.

It's at 50,000 of 2,500,000 steps. Were looking at a month between WU's. This cant be right because the last 550mhz rig I built averaged a WU every 7 to 10 days. Anyone else folding on K6-2's getting about the same results?

Remember, the frames don't matter. They're just the savepoints. One frame mightn't take as long as another (with different proteins).

On a related note, I have a K6-2 475 and installed Windows 2k last night, though, the network card won't work (I even downloaded proper drivers) though it's a good card, and I dunno what to do. Will work on that today and get it up folding.

Wind up that 475 to 550, you should be able to hit 550 on 2.5 or 2.6 volts if it's a 2.2 volt chip.

also jdogg you might wanna think about some settings, like how much ram you have in them and other things- now personally id say ditch them- but since you are folding on them, then that would be pretty point less, so see if you can tweak the bios or maybe just maybe find some info on how to VOLTMOD the chips to take them even HIGHER!! how does 600 sound

You can change the size of the work units by changing your preference to "No deadlines" (Or is it deadlines?) in the control panel. I got some little ones that way, great for older rigs

I do have a baby AT that will crank up to 650, the board the 550 is in now won't go past 550. Only problem is with the baby AT is lack of much VCore adjustment, by only .5 volts.

It used to take me an average of 2 weeks to finish a WU on a K6-2 500 running 24/7.
