Default Folding Problems

Hey,

I started folding for Team PimpRig yesterday, but my computer keeps stalling/resetting with this thing. Is F@H tougher on the CPU then a night of Prime95?? I'm not sure whether it's bringing out instability in my overclock, or whether I have a bad installation.

Anyone have any similar issues?

I myself have never used prime, but to my understanding it takes your processor to 100 percent use. If thats what it does than im not quite sure because thats all that F@H does. Also what version of folding at home are you using because some of the older versions used to make my rig random restart and stall out. If you do have newest version check to see what your temps are at, and make sure that in your BIOS you dont have a limit to what your cpu temp can reach, unless of course its already set at 60 and your reaching that. That would be bad...... Another possible glitch ive noticed so far is that the name is particular in the program, which could be your case. Try entering Sparky@PR in the name box and let it run for a couple months straight and see if that works

Sparky, trying to hawk your username like that is low.

Try downlocking and check to see if that changes things. if you're suspecting it, it's worth changing. Also, make sure there are no flags on the folding shortcut, particularly -forcesse and -forceasm, those are prone to add instability.

I'm not sure if I have the latest version. I used the Team PimpRig installer, which to my understanding has some optimizations? Maybe that is the problem. I'll try the basic installation and see how that goes.

Thanks for the help... (and for trying to get me to fold for you

The pimprig link is outdated as hell. The link that they have gives some messed up results besides being old. Go to the stanford site and download v4.0 that has all the bugs like yours fixed. You can find it here. Kick ass bro and fold on!

I have had my O'Clocked system restart the F@H too...seems I am still on only 2WU's when before the third was 79% completed then restarted??

And now it has done it again...grrr was 300/500 and now is back to 0/0??

Anyone got any clues on this...

Hmmm what kind of overclock do you have and what kind of temps? Also do you have the latest version of folding@home?

Wait like, a minute to see if it changes from 0/0. That's what happens when it starts reading the WU. It will go up, or you've got a corrupted WU, in which case PM or IM me and I'll give better instructions.

And try turning off your overclock, or toning it down some. And be patient, the whole process takes a while.
