Default Stealth Folding?

Is there a way to have a computer folding without the systray icon? i want to get it on my roomie's computer but i don't think she needs to know about it doesn't know anyhing about computers and would be a pain in the arse to try to explain that it isn't hurting anything and she'll never know it's there...

all for the good of the team

Although I disagree with "Borging" without a users permission (Can't you just ask?), there's plenty of other reasons to run Folding@Home as a service. There's several methods described in this thread: http://pub116.ezboard.com/fcompuforu...icID=926.topic

Actually there's an easier way to do it right here.

It asks you for the parameters, and sets it all up for you essentially.

Has the bonus of running no matter which user is logged in, even works with nobody logged in. Haven't had a single problem with it yet, and it's on 8 of my machines.

I concur...thanks Sportbilly. Nice linkage. I'll get to work on this very soon. Hopefully I can incorporate some of that into my upcoming Folding rig.

This one is the easiest, you go through the installer and simply select the FAH program path, and it works as a service from there on out. Excellent.

sorry about diggin up an old thread, but i was wondering if anyone knows if Tekx's download will work on a rig, where said downloader is not the administrator, and will it run incognito with other users logged in?

Negative. To set up any program as a service you need admin priveledges (or at least know the admin's password).

Here's a thought, run the graphical F@H then you can Ctrl+Alt+Delete explorer and the icon disappears. It'll still be there in the task manager, but so will any other way you run it stealthy.

problem that im having is i cant get it to connect with stanford to start folding because it requires administrator. And yet the leave Telnet constantly on for security purposes....sounds dumb huh.
