Default F@H on a Laptop

I'm about to install F@H on my laptop, and I have a question. I know that it runs the CPU at 100% constantly, which makes your computer run hotter. I also know that heat is more of an issue for laptops. I was wondering if I leave my laptop on 24/7 and folding, will I be potentially causing damage??

I would say no, but having the fan going all the time will make the fan die sooner.

With proper ventalation for the computer - which you shoudl have regardless if you are running folding should be able to keep it cool. However, as Tycoon said it will cause your small little laptop fan to die much sooner. I would say if you notice the system running a little hot then try to cool the air around the system, and/or just give it a rest for a couple of hours each day (like while you are preparing, eating, and cleaning up after dinner and maybe even after a bit of TV. Due to the small confined space - you will want to give your laptop time to "breathe easy".

May sound ghetto but put a small desktop fan blowing on it - might keep the fan from kicking on so often.

I don't run it on my laptop for just that reason. Of course mine sits in a non-air conditioned auto shop in Vegas where every day in July and August is over 100 and I figure the four rigs I've got running 24/7 at home is enough.

Hey, what kinda laptop are we talking here anyway - celeron, p4, AMD - older rig......maybe heat wont be quite the issue you think it would depending on the equipment. My lappy will warm your trousers up quite a bit but my father in-law uses a 400 mhz machine that stays cool as a cucumber......

Damn - I said TROUSERS.......to much exposure to the english around here.....just they other day I said something was BORKED......time to eat an apple pie and play baseball, maybe it will cancel out the effects.

Well it's a P3 at 600 MHz I believe, and I just tried running F@H on it for about 15 hours I guess. After that the bottom was almost too hot to touch. I think maybe I'll just not run F@H on the laptop, since it's only 600 MHz anyway.
