LOL, I know, it took me 3 days now to get the GPU client working, and just when I thought I had everything under control, I got that message. Sheesh, cuda drivers, stock drivers, trying different versions, trying different OS's, I finally got it worked out though. Right now on this PC, without any SMP running, I'm getting about 5200 ppd Going to try to run an SMP client to see what happens ![]()

| My freaking quad running the SMP is according to FahMon, a whopping 250 PPD!! WTF! Oh well, I will be losing some points untill I get it figured out. Gotta love the Stanford folks... Geez, my f'ing Dell 1.4Ghz laptop gets around 150PPD! Maybe I should downgrade? Gets frustrating at times! E | ||

Believe me, my four quads are doing **** right now too. I just turned off 3 of my P4 3.0's My electric bill is at almost $300 a month, and that's because 90% of it is my folding rig's. The wife is very cool with my stuff, but I'm starting to feel the pressure. Anyway, I'm just gonna see what this 9800gtx is gonna do. If it looks ok, I'll install this other 9800gtx that I have sitting here in this box

I just got my hands on it for my IBM server. It seems to work well folding on one core but you can assign the machine ID just like the client but its pretty confusing on how to get it working properly but other than that I also have 2 clients running along as well ![]()

| I already replaced the GPU client with the new version (6.20) and installed it on my HTPC. The 8500GT is only producing ~750ppd vs. the ~4500ppd that my main rig with a 8800GTS (G92) is producing. Anyone else folding on a low/midrange GPU? | ||

The SMP has been extended Folding Forum • View topic - 5.91 and 5.92 deprecated but extended I give up. Can't get it to work. I was getting the Beta has expired on a rig that has only folded with the GPU, I may have had an old version. No probs with the GPU folding. Looks like just GPU folding for me. I just got one of my 9800gtx cards folding last night (actually this morning) and so far FahMon is showing 5184 ppd. I'm going to try setting up the smp client in a while on the same computer. We'll see what happens.

| Yeah, I don't have the second 9800gtx folding because they need two 6-pin PCI-E power cables to run. none of my other power supplies have that, and the adapters require four 4-pin molex cables which none of my PSU's have to spare. Everything now is SATA you know. Anyway, I'll let you know how the GPU/SMP client combo venture works out. | ||

Here are some results after testing for about 3 hours: The first two pic's are without the two SMP clients and just the GPU client, notice the GPU client uses about 100% of core 4 (25% of total CPU). The second two pic's are with two SMP clients and the GPU client running all together. The GPU still uses about 100% of the fourth core while the two SMP clients don't use all of the other 3 cores. As you can see, the GPU client by itself puts out about 5100 ppd, but add one or two smp clients, the ppd drops quite a bit even though it still has the same available core proccessing at it's disposal. I do believe that the new SMP Beta is flawed. I've also read that Stanford is working on a GPU client that will not have to use any CPU resources. That would be cool.
