| I.ve been testing the Nvidia Gpu client. Seems as though well see a major boost in performance running this client. Currently averaging a "projected" 4800 points per day on a 9800 gtx & Q6600 So far the only issue is with a windows slowdown,so just set cpu usage to 85% and it works fine. the gpu client only uses about 25 % of the cpu soo... I,m going to try running the Gpu and SMP client together and see what kind of times I get . Later... | ||

going to hijack your thread to promote my thread for link http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandeg...tray-612b6.msi this is a direct download for the GPU client for Cuda enabled cards *a GeForce, Quadro, or Tesla card that supports CUDA card which supports CUDA (G80 or later for the most part) *A CUDA capable driver, version 174.55 or later *32-bit Windows operating system, XP or newer; 64-bit Windows operating systems appear to currently be incompatible Last edited by TCG_Modder; 19-June-08 at 12:49 AM..

Lots... but then I only have a 2.4 GHz box, and a 2.93 GHz box. I haven't started any GPU folding yet though. I should probably do that tonight.

| Ok, at the risk of sounding like a complete retard (which I'm not, I'm just saying...) WTF are you guys talking about, SMP, WTH is that? Anything like Console client (ie: where I can set up one instance for each of the CPU cores)? BTW, thanks for the linkages, got my GX2 up and running with the GPU client... Getting about 22~2300 for a performance score... | ||

SMP goes beyond using a client per core and uses all cores for one client. Edit, and asking the question isn't stupid, not asking would have been. Last edited by 4x0n; 03-July-08 at 05:11 PM..

| Ok, so apparently I'm cranking them out one right after the other... From my 9800GX2 in the new build machine... The SMP is about to finish a 1920-pointer that it started yesterday afternoon about this time, so not too shabby for a C2QX 6850, I don't think... ![]() Anyone have thoughts on running the SMP client on two different laptops as well? One Intel C2D (my gaming lappy), one AMD X2 (wife's home computer). Are there issues between the SMP client and AMD CPUs, or is that just something I imagined? Obviously, I want to crank out the WU's as quickly and effectively as I can, just want to try and get the client that will allow me to do the absolute most per machine... Another question: I understand that the GPU client runs on CUDA-enabled cards, my gaming lappy has an 8700M GT. Can anyone verify for me (or point me to the info) as to whether or not the 8700M GT reference designs support CUDA? The thought is that if it will, I'll plug the gaming lappy back in and run the GPU and SMP, and then stealth-run the SMP from the wife's computer (unless AMD X2s do have a problem with SMP). Should REALLY see those points shoot back up there... ![]() | ||

| Well, now... ![]() The desktop (C2QX6850 + 9800GX2) is just a beast at cranking out the WUs... The majority of the WUs you see here are from it... Is the p5002_supervil like the preferred GPU WU or something? ![]() On the bad news front, the 8700MGT doesn't seem to like to work with the GPU client (keeps giving errors and going into the test protein), and the SMP doesn't seem to like my C2D in the laptop, so I'm just running the GUI client on both mine and the wife's laptops... Still managing to crank out some pretty good numbers... Passed up GK, and holding off the Gruntville Horde for a little while longer... | ||
