| Well, Looks like I picked up a Q6600 G0 (L737B626) chip for a good price. I think I will put it in my main rig, and build another Q6600 folder in a week or so to replace my old Socket A machine. Anyone else doing anything to increase their PPD? E | ||

| I'd love to replace my old opty 165 dual core system and add a 3rd q6600 machine but I am about a week from buying a house. My closing is on the 28th. (or anything else for that matter) until upgrades to the house are finished and I get moved in.On a side note, I was away for the weekend and all 3 of my machines crashed their folding WU's. I think that is the first time I have had both linux boxes crash at the same time as the windows machine. I'm wondering if I didn't get an odd power fluctuation that affected all three machines but didn't shut them down. ![]() | ||

| One of my 24/7 folding rigs had it's PSU depart from this world last night, lost a good ADoM character too. Not sure of the damage of the internals, will check it this week or the next. But thankfully it was my parents rig so perhaps I can get them to go to a quad ![]() | ||

| Well vf1000, I guess after buying a house, you are excused for a while. Are you running the SMP client? My Q6600 gets a little over 2k ppd acording to fahmon.Dex, I don't know what is up with my power meter, I can run 3 or 4 computers and all my other stuff and it does not go much over $100 a month. I have seen the meter person almost every month come and read it... I ain't arguing with them.4xOn, I have been thinking about this for a while. Perhaps we could have a fah trading section. If someone needs a stick of RAM to fold, and I have one laying around, I would give it to them. Would have to think about who would qualify and such. MRMOBEUS, always good to see you around. Keep on Folding! E | ||

My new e8400 (and the rest of the parts) just arrived, so I'll be trading out my Prescott for a Wolfdale ... that should seriously improve my PPD. However, my wife's Prescott (borged), laptop (borged) and my current rig are all out of the picture, but I suspect the Wolfdale will still more than make up for that.-J

| Our quarterly bill is around £300 ($590) which is bad enough as it is without folding. Frustrating as cancer is yet again rearing its ugly head in my family, my grandfather is down to one lung and is finding it very hard to do anything, and my girlfriends grandmother has just been diagnosed with skin cancer ![]() | ||

Good idea, but wouldn't help me much, since I'm pretty sure that the mobo, psu and hard drive are FUBAR, and perhaps the memory sticks, graphics card and cpu depending on my luck. But my parents seem set on getting a mac, so I guess I'll have to read up on folding on OSX ![]()

| Fred-G, I run smp on all 3 machines. Obviously the dual core opty suffers from technology envy but it still turns in roughy 880ppd. My linux q6600 is the best producer at over 2200ppd but the windows q6600 is close behind at like 1800ppd. I don't know that the linux box folds any faster, just that the windows machine is the one I do everything else on and I am always interupting folding to steal cpu usage. | ||

Yeah, you could offer to help them pay for it, that would be pimp ![]() Anyway, this is what I have in my office folding 24/7: 1 - Q6600 Slightly oc'ed to about 2.88 on air, running SMP client 2 - Q6600 Slightly oc'ed to about 2.88 on air, running SMP client 3 - P4 3.6 ghz HT running SMP client 4 - P4 3.0 ghz HT running SMP client 5 - P4 3.0 ghz HT running SMP client 6 - P4 2.5 ghz And I just added another Q6600 Slightly oc'ed to about 2.88 on air, running SMP client LAST NIGHT !! ![]() I also have all the parts to build another Quad Core folding rig, I just have to get some money for another Q6600. After that purchase, I'll wait until the faster Quads come down in price. By the way, my electric bill is about $240 per month (I'd say a good 80% is from my computers running at 100% 24/7) and the wife is starting to mention it.

| 4x0n wouldn't shipping be a bitch all the way out there? I currently lost all my folders... But In turn I've almost saved up for my E7200 for the Striker Extreme I have laying around. With OCZ's memory deals I might have 4GB running alongside it all. But the trick is getting a s775 cooler or a new waterblock for my loop (that could use a nice clean up anyhow.) In other news, thanks for the reminder setting up Ubuntu LIVE F@H as we speak (on my flash drive so I don't loose any progress of course.) F@H on my fellow Apexers! ![]() | ||

| My other Q6600 is finally on it's way! But the RAM in this quad is unstable. So very little Folding for me until RAM arrives. But the new build is making progress, I will use the Mushkin RMA'd RAM for the new folder.Looks like only one of my memory sticks is bad. I got the folding back on today, and hopefully can score a few points this weekend! E Last edited by Fred_G; 29-May-08 at 08:13 PM.. Reason: Reason for Editing: | ||

| Almost convinced my parents to buy a Power Mac, but then they decided that they don't like the look of their old Dell 22" screen nor the look of the Apple screens so they went with an iMac But they did mention that if I wanted one that it might be a possibility too tempting, anyone know how many ppd I could achieve with one (2x2.8 GHz Quad)?I'm also getting myself a PS3 this july which will be folding every single second when I'm not gaming, and considering my workload next semester, the gaming part will be very slim. | ||
