| I was wondering if there was a way to have F@H running directly from a thumb drive? If I could it would give me about 9 CPU hours a day. It has to run from the USB drive, no files put on the PC. Off Topic, How often to the F@H sigs update? | ||

So far as I can tell, the F@H software doesn't require anything to be installed into system files, you simply just run the config and make sure NOT to have it run as a service. That's the only option I've found that changes anything in the system itself. All you'll have to do is either rig an autorun batch file to run the F@H exe when your usb drive is inserted, or make sure to run it manually. This DOES create a window that will show up on your task bar, so if someone catching you by peering over your shoulder is an issue, you need to account for that. Now, as far as how often the sigs updates, I'm not sure. However, Thrasher2 should be along any time. He potentially knows how often. d

| The F@H stats servers usually update themselves every three hours, adding to your score if you submitted completed packets in between updates. You can check with pages such as ExtremeOverclockers[dot]com, click on the Folding Stats link at the top of the page, and then your team number (your ARE folding for 596, right???) As for the user sigs, those are usually somewhere around 10-12 hours sometimes, so don't get worried and caught up in the sig stats... Whether they go fast or slow, as long as you're folding, that's all that really matters, isn't it? | ||

You could always sneakernet your F@H for work. ![]() ![]() Then there are NO proxy worries. *grins* d

Ignore the reg edit part. The important part is moving the files. I don't even know WHY they have that part . . . I'll have to look into it. But I've been able to sneakernet without the regedit part. d

Thats all you have to do, really, all you have to do is start the F@H console, after it configs and downloads its first WU (it will say working, or 0 out of 250000 frames complete) then close it, and bam. I've been USB folding at my school since i started last year, i run it on a varity of Pentium D and core duos every day...
