| PCApex's Mom | EXCUSE ME, we can not let this thread die. So I say lets adopt a newbe into folding. Yes, I know this is a moding site and T2 has always done his best to attract the new people into folding. But pimps we have to do more!! I myself have never been there to say welcome and I'm not proud of it. I'm not tect. minded so I really don't have the answers that they want to hear. Most of you do. Oh beans, I'm going back to bed. You get my drift. Well can't sleep. Some of you might ask why am I here? A few computers ago Lokie was working on it and told me not to be mad but he had downloaded something that would not hurt my puter but maybe save a life. He explaned about folding and a site he belonged to that did it too. He did not have to tell me twice, I was so proud of him and a place called PR. A man called BA welcomed me and I fell in love. Not with BA but the whole idea of people helping people. In my heart I just knew this was right. Damn I cry easy. I'm a pimp and proud of it. I fold and proud of it. nite Last edited by lokies_mom; 25-July-07 at 01:48 AM. |

| PCApex Review Editor | Mom, you always say what we're all feeling but don't know how to put to words. Well, at least you always say what I'M trying to find words for. I'm trying to come up with some ideas for how we can continue to promote folding across the forum let alone across the world. I'm always supporting TeamPimpRig, but I'm never shy about saying that 'as long as you fold, it's all good'. On that note, I'm reposting the digg.com link to the guide I wrote. Please, go digg it. If we can manage to get it onto the front page, we'll have some damned good exposure for not only our site/team/forum in general, but Folding gets exposure too. Digg - A quick and dirty guide to get Folding@Home to run correctly in Vista! Who knows, if we push this hard enough, we may even expand our userbase when they see what kind of quality family we have! d Last edited by drougnor; 27-July-07 at 09:09 AM. |

![]() | Over the last few months i got caught up in school and slacked off with keeping my machines folding. So far i have my P4, Opteron and an Athlon XP folding with another Athlon 64 on the way and possibly a Core 2. The line is sloping the right way again. Good work guys and keep on folding!!

![]() ![]() | By all means I’m not trying to piss anybody off but saving humanity has never been a priority of mine, last time I heard it was doing just fine doubling in population like ever 100 years. I have always felt that disease was kind of a way spices earned the right to live as well as keeping those same spices’ populations in check. I also think that when anything is cured or a species adapts to a disease Mother Nature will just come up with another one, it has to or humanity will overgrow it. I guess I see it as a “reap what you sew kind a deal.†I think they should ban fertility drugs as well. Ya it sucks you can’t have a kid but that’s life, besides why don’t you give a child that doesn’t have a family a chance. I know it’s a challenge to go through the process of adoption and it costs money but if you where looking to have a child you will find the rewards are worth it. This is just how I perceive life. I guess and by all means my perceptions may be way off. I hate the medical industry ever since I was diagnosed with dyslexia and turrets it’s been “take this pill for your dyslexia, take this pill for your turrets and take this pill so the first two pills don’t negate each other.†I will never trust them again; I don’t even care if they tell me they can cure me if I have some terrible illness. The only good thing they’ve done for me was to give me my DNR. I will say my perception can’t be helped though having Asperger’s Syndrome on top of depression is probably the reason for my “humanity deserves it†attitude. I see myself as a walking problem waking up miserable in the morning and crying yourself to sleep random nights is hardly a way to live; especially if you feel the meaning of life is love and happiness; which is quite odd as I’m someone who has seemed to achieve the rank of repellent to both. In MMOs I’m always the character that’s never in a guild and is always doing things alone. Anyways I didn’t mean to drag on some sob story I was just trying to explain my thought process a little and I ended up give you a somewhat scary glimpse into my head. Lokie’s mom I’m sorry if I upset you I guess I was just looking for a little more encouragement to start. You and Drougnor have both vocalized more than enough, not to mention all the support Drougnor has been giving everyone proving his dedication to the cause. If I had any rep to give you you’d get it, I’ll right you an IOU. In the end I guess I have to treat it like my country (USA) “I may not love it for what it is or who’s in charge, but I do love it for what it once was, for what it has achieved and for what it stands for.†I’ll talk to my dad we have a pile of computer always on and all their doing is word processing which is sad seeing how powerful they are. But I got one computer running now. I’ll get my PS3 going as well. Now the check some of drougnor’s posts for multi core folding and I heard lokie’s mom talk about a farm? That might be kind a nice on an office network. |

| PCApex's Mom | To say your post leaves me speechless is a vast understatement. You could not piss me off for having your own opinion. I do understand your side, personally I think we'll will be nuked off the face of the earth. You also say that you have some computers that you could Fold on. This tells me that you do care at some point in your heart of hearts. I can't live thinking that at any moment the bombs will fall, so WTF? Why not fold and fell good about something? mom Not speechless anymore. When I was 14, I was watching a friend, 17 and a guy with black leather jacket, look into the tank of his motercycle with a flashlight! A cop car pulled up behind us and two officers got out both with shotguns. Not more then six words were said and one of them shot Jackie in the chest. He was dead before he hit the ground. I had his blood on me, not much but enougth to F### with my head for a few years. After I turned hippie and searched for the answers, it didn't take time to realized, YEAH, it happens!! But he didn't suffer. BANG!! It was over. If we're nuked, BANG!! Who cares!! Like I already said, if I can help fix that gene or protein so people don't have to suffer in the mean time, I can look at that light and smile. It's just such a small thing to do. Just my 2 cents. mom Last edited by lokies_mom; 26-July-07 at 07:50 PM. |

![]() ![]() | Sucks...PS3 doesn't seem to fold in the background. Folding has an auto turn on, so if the machine is sitting idle at the cross media bar it will automatically start folding. Right now my PS3 is folding, still it sucks that I cant fold in the background I know it could be folding if i where playing PS2 or 1 games and even some of the downloadable games and definitely while watching dvds. I will say it is way cooler then the PC version to look at. Edit: Folding dosn't seem to like it when i have two machines with the same user on the same team going at the same time. Figures my pc is running it right now but its just sitting a 150/5000. |

Can you clarify a bit what you mean by it not liking it? There are a LOT of us running the same name and team number under multiple machines with no problems, so we should be able to help you out. d | |||||||||||||||||||||||
