Default Great news for all you Folders out there!

With this kind of news, maybe Stanford can direct the F@H project in a more productive direction...

A dramatic genetic breakthrough has paved the way for potential new treatments of seven common diseases that could help more than 20 million people.
The largest ever study of its kind has found 10 new genes linked to seven of the most common ailments: heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, bipolar disorder and CrohnÂ’s disease.

Scientists have made a major leap in unravelling the genetic causes of seven common diseases, including diabetes, arthritis and high blood pressure, by completing the largest analysis of the human genome. The discoveries pave the way for improved treatments and possible cures for the millions of people in the UK who develop the diseases every year.Using new techniques to examine the DNA of thousands of patients, scientists also found common genetic links in heart disease cases. The findings raise the prospect of improved medical treatment and preventative work with people identified as carrying a genetic risk of disease.

Wow..I can't beleive there are no replies to this so far!

This is the kind of news I love to hear, knowing that all the effort we (Folders if the World) have put in, is paying off!

There have been other nreakthroughs in the last few years of course, and there are many more to come!

Thanks for the update Rob

Er... this is very good news, but I seemed to have missed the part where either article mentions folding or Stanford University...?

This is awesome, glad to hear news in general of this degree. Hopefully Stanford can put this information towards the folding system, so those next few years go faster.

This is just wonderful. My dad keeps bitching and whining about how I have 15 computers and a 260 dollar electric bill even though it is my own house, I think I'll show this to him

By the way this wave of work units SUCKS i'm getting like 300 or 400ppd on my fastest machine each unit takes like 4 or 5 days to fold. I went from average 800ppd and spikes to 1300ppd now I'm at 400-ish ppd WTF time to upgrade.
