| The headphone jack on my laptop sucks! 80% of the time when I plug in headphones or speakers, sound will only come out of the right headphone/speaker. If I play with the jack a little I can get sound to come out of both, but it's really weird. If I push down on the headphone connector, the sound works, but if I pull up it doesn't. It seems like there's a bad connection or something inside my laptop, what can I do? The laptop is like 1.5 years old and I think the warranty is dead; am I stuck with this problem or is there something I can do? HELP this is sooo annoying, i've been living with it/hoping it goes away for a couple weeks now, but I can't stand it anymore. It's getting harder and harder to get sound to both headphones. Oh ya btw, once I get sound in both headphones, it's fine until I touch the connector again. | ||

| Spray out the jack with a contact cleaner that is safe for use on plastic. As soon as you spray it in the jack, insert the headphone plug and rotate. Repeat. If this does not take care of the issue, the jack itself is bad, or the solder connections holding the jack to the circuit board are cracked. Continually pusing down on hte jack will eventually break the joints completey. Take the laptop apart and resolder the jack. While you are at it, touch up the solder on the DC input jack. If you don't know how to disassemble the laptop, and if you don't know how to solder, now could be a great opportunity to learn. | ||
