| Recently, my computer has had some major difficulties with the audio and specifically the Microphone. The actual problem it self is that when I unmute the microphone function, not only does the microphone not function properly, but it messes up the audio output. I have also installed the latest drivers from both Gigabyte and Realtek, which I will supply links to. My current motherboard is a Ga-K8N Pro-Sli which means it uses AC 97 The problem started a few days ago, for what appears to be no reason because I did not reinstall any drivers. | If you mean the microphone is picking things up while you are playing music or whatnot, do you have your line-in muted in the control panel? I left mine on and realized it was picking up the noise from my blowhole on my comp while I wasn't using it. | ||

| The gay part about realtek, they make it very hard to revert to older drivers. I am also having trouble finding my original motherboard CD with all the drivers on it. A link would useful in this situation. The odd part which leaves me to possible doubt this from working was this started happening when I didn't update drivers, but stranger things have happened. | ||

| AC 97 drivers: http://members.driverguide.com/drive...riverid=288378 plus the ones on Gigabyte's site for audio are also an older version than on Realtek's site. | ||

| Yes I have tried different microphones before. I have also used the realtek panel to rearrange which port is used for what function like making the audio input used for microphone, etc. It left me with the exact same problem. I am starting to think that the only solution is a reinstall. | ||

| OK I managed to find my original driver CD and reinstalled the drivers that came on that thing. I STILL have the same exact problem. I should probably mention this now, it is not the hardware because it all works on linux but not windows. Add 2: OK I have tried a soundcard and it is giving me the SAME DAMN PROBLEM. It has to be something that windows broke. Last edited by Fatsobob; 06-August-06 at 05:18 PM.. | ||

Yes
That must be it, yesterday I bought an audigy to test the sound card problem and narrow it down. If the soundcard fails, it has to be mobo. I will let you know how it turns out when I get windows installed again. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
