| Apex Tech Maniac Supreme | I finally got my computer to run and boot up but now when i put my audigy sound card into a pci slot the computer won't start. I take that the card is grounding the system but there isn't any metal that is touching, so i am very confused. Some background on this card. Has worked before, with my water leak the back of the card and some of the front was covered in water (with water wetter). Has been dried off and set out to dry for over a week. Is this card gone for good??

| Aqua Pimp | Hard to say without testing in another rig. Outside of water damage there is lot's of components on a Audigy that could inadvertantly be damaged removing or installing it. On the bright side. You got good on-board sound with that board.

| Apex Tech Maniac Supreme | Well after i took out the sound card my system still wouldn't start (hmm, reminiscentof the first grounding problem i had) so i looked at my system to see what was different and wa la. The answer was right in front of me. The USB ports that came with my case were causing my board to be grounded. unplugged the usb cable, plugged the sound card in and it booted. problem solved. Now i just hope that i the chipset drivers don't **** windows up again. yeah the drivers on the cd screwed windows up twice. wish me luck.

| P-Hoe-lice | Be sure to stick with the nvidia 2.03 chipset drivers WITHOUT the nvidia IDE drivers. Avoid the 2.41 or 2.42. Those drivers are so full of bugs it's a wonder D-CON wasn't at the nvidia labs spraying.

| P-Hoe-lice | If you uninstall the nvidia IDE drivers from the device manager next time you reboot Windows should install the standard default Micro$oft IDE driver in the place of the ones you just removed. At that point, if you have other drivers to install (from ASUS or whoever) you can.

| Banned | I had an El` Cheapo` $20 case with USB ports mounted directly to the chassis (behind the bezel), this resulted in no-go boot and after a heavy inspection of my PC I found this out, unplugged them and booted fine. If you mount your USB on something non-conductive, its safe to hook them up to your motherboard.
If you had GoBack, you could mangle your system to the point of no-boot and "GoBack" because the goback screen loads before windows does, before the windows boot sequence. If you have goback, what are you waiting for? Mess with your drivers till you drop! Otherwise I woudnt mess with a perfectly working system. | |||||||||||||||||||

| Apex Tech Maniac Supreme | the usb is very similar with me too. Its mounted in the front bezel, all plastic, so why when i plug it into the mobo does it cause a no boot??? also, my system seems to be running fine now show i even worry about the ide drivers?? It says on the website that they are more compatible but slower where as miro**** is faster but less compatible

| Apex Tech Maniac Supreme | Well, i think part of it is someone doesn't like me (not hates me, but doesn't like me) up there. Cause i have had trouble but nothing serious (thank god). The biggest problem i had was not booting and that was caused by the usb ports in the front bezel and then the drivers on the abit cd are corrupt. I dunno if i have tons of experience its just i've been able to fix things so far. (and i think my digital output on my sound card works now, woohoo!!) EDIT:: Sometimes i post here a little to early before i have thought out everything, which is probably why it seems like i have the worst luck in the world. I'm sorry about that and if i make things out to be worse than they are.
