Soundblaster Live! card problem

Hi,

Soundblaster Live! card problem :

I'm having trouble with my sound breaking up. I have checked with both speakers and headphones and they both have the same problem. I have taken out the sound card, put it back in, uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers (multiple times). The problem persists.

It's particularly noticeable when the system is under load, for example I ran HDTach to see what would happen and it breaks up a lot, strange though that I was running it on my backup drive, which isn't where the music I was playing is stored.

I'm pretty sure its not interference from cables as I made sure that the SATA cables are not near the sound card.

Any idea's ??

Have you tried updating the drivers/software through Creative's website? They have an autoupdate feature that detects your card and installs the latest drivers and software.

Sounds like the card is being starved of bandwidth. Try pulling a few pci cards and see if its still there.

Also, when did the problem start occuring? Did you add new hardware to your system and the problem showed up after that?

That sure helped when I was still using it.... it solved the "crackling" sounds in a bunch of games...
The LIVE cards are known for this... but Creative solved it by introducing re-worked drivers...
