| Well, it finally happened. My Audigy 2 Platinum sound card died. I've heard several stories of these things dying lately. Is there a history of bad SB cards? I really want to pick up an Audigy 2 ZS...I hate using the built in Realtek junk. | ||

could be the amp on your speakers....what are you using..... have an audigy 2pzs, love it..was a wonderful tool when i was a digital arts music major..... never had an audigy die.....but on the audio side i hade 3 sets of klipsch 5.1 go bad before they fixed the problem and called it "ultra" lol i guess when you fix a problem with your hardware now you have to ad a tag ....utlra ....2 ....zs i guess i cant bitch too much they did replace every set for free w/ shipping good luck, if you have an old card around i would use that and just wait till the audigy X-Fi comes out ![]()

| Hah I wish I had Klipsch speakers :-p Or even the Logitech 5300's Eh I have the Harmon Kardon 595 speakers. Got em with my Dell and just moved em to my new computer. Makes 4.1 sound from a 2.1 setup, so it's been decent. Only place you can find em nowadays is directron.com. Dont really have the money to pick up a new set. However I can tell you that when I had the creative 6.1 speaker set (which i returned cuz it was annoying) it had the same hissing sound on one of the channels, therefore I think that it is the card, but w/e. | ||

yah prob the card then, yah on my moms computer is a dell, she has the harmom kardons thay are not that bad. If you ever want a new set and dont want more than 5.1 deff go for the klipsch.....i have them set up in my room around the tv so movies/tv/xbox/ps2 can all go through my audigy bay and to the speakers and i love it. being an audio guy and going to school for it i have listend to proffesional monitors that dont sound as good as my set of klipsches ![]() and plus 2 8" subs really boom with movies and games. ![]()

You might try playing with the spread spectrum settings for your motherboard. Usually the hiss is due to underdriving the speakers or electrical interference from anything nearby or in the case that might be a tad lean on the shielding.
Fantastic when you've got the speakers calibrated to compensate for any variations in angle and distance from where you typically sit.
