Is the wave volume turned up also?
Double click the sound icon and check it there.

Well my dads sytem had a problem like that and it turned out to be the speakers. The connector was loose in the speaker output. When we hooked up another set of speakers his sound came back full force.

Just a thought, but try this...

Double click the speaker Icon (will bring up the Master Volume dialog box
Click Options
Click Properties
Make sure all available options are checked
Play a song (preferably a long one) using a media player of your choice
Make sure the physical speakers are turned up about mid-way
Adjust each slider individually upwards to see if there is a difference

Also, are the spearkers plugged in to the green plug? There are anywhere from 2 to 6 (sometimes even more) audio jacks on a mobo. The green one is for primary speakers. In regards to the integrated audio drivers.. what type of mobo do you have? When you supply us with the hardware information, we can tell you where you can find updated chipset/audio drivers.

Try this: move your plug to primary green one. I once had my speakers plugged into my SUB out on mine and all it was getting was bass to the speakers but no sound other than bass, which was faint cuz when this happened to mea few years back I had a 2.1 system and it sucked. 18watts RMS. haha. pounding out 200watts RMS now.

Just an idea here. This has happened to me a few times, so hear me out. Do you have Musicmatch Jukebox? If you do, check the volume meter in Musicmatch. It has a way of overriding the master volume. Try turning the volume up on musicmatch if you have it. Just a thought.

i tryed that about a million times and it is louder but still not by a lot at all i got some info though, were i plug my speakers in their are 2 other holes i can only get sound from 1 and i think it is the headphone jack, cause it can be aranged to sit in the front of my computer (pluss the little headset symbol). I built my computer by myself so i could have messed up on were the sound things go on the motherbourd.

if you are still having the problem with the sound then try turning the wave volume all the way up and keep the master control as your main volume control!
