i have some trouble booting up when i have my external M-Audio Fast Track usb sound card installed. This happens everytime I first turn on my pc, the computer will run for like 20 seconds before the windows loading screen appears, then the pc will just shut down. When I turn the pc on a second time it boots just fine, anyone know why it could be doing this?

Does the sound card have external power or does it run off of usb?

Might possibly be pulling too much power. Just a guess. Have you tried a slightly more powerful PSU?

Not yet. I was kinda hoping it could be the psu, i was gonna upgrade to a better one soon anway. I hope its not faulty usb ports on board, could that be the problem?

yeah man. that sounds like a bad psu. have you tried it without the sound card pluggged in? maybe you need to update your bios as it may be a USB legacy issue. just a thought.

yea i've tried it without the sound card plugged in. everything runs good, no problems. although every once in a while my computer does randomly reboot, i blame the psu. but anyway, im gonna try updating the bios, hopefully that works.

here is a good psu i recommend. i have it in my 2 little brothers computers and 4 customers and they are all running 7800gt's and 8800gts's along with dual core cpu's

Yeah i said the same thing when i was looking for my little bro who was on a really tight budget. I have dual 12volt rails and SLI support(2 PCI-E Power connectors) along with individual connections for fans. and there is a button on the back of the psu to turn its fans on high mode or quiet along with the ones hooked up to the fan wires. its a really solid psu and it even feels solid. i wish i knew about if before i spent $100+ on my 630 watt raidmax.
