Default Sound never really configured properly...

I'm at it again with more problems. Ever since I built my computer, my sound has never really been configured properly. Only the front two speakers are working. I have Logitech Z-5300e 5.1 Surround speakers. I can't remember what kind of sound card I have. I do know it's a 7.1 card running Envy24 drivers/software. Anyway, I've tried all sorts of configurations. Of course, all the cables and everything are plugged in. That's about my extent of knowledge of the situation...

Is it onboard sound? If so what make/model mobo do you have? in most cases i would think it would simply be a matter of the drivers. I had a simialr problem with my onboard realtek AC97 audio. then about 6 months ago they updated the drivers and it works fine.

I would assume that you have checked all the windows sound properties and made sure the sound configuration is set to 5.1 right? I would say if u cant fix it with drivers then get another card. 5.1 cards are cheap.

It's not an onboard card. The configuration is set to 5.1. I'll try and find the right drivers for it, but I've looked before and the support is pretty crappy.

If you can at least find the card make and model number (including revision, i.e. v1.3 or ver1.2)
then one of us can likely find the most current drivers if you don't already have them.

I do already have the most current drivers. At this point I'm just leaving it alone. I set my all my speakers to just two channels, as that seems to work.
