| Let me give you some background to the story and what i'm up to first. I'm at college, in a relatively small town, and we have a centralized mail service for the school. The receiving room, for whatever god-forsaken reason, closes at 5pm. UPS delivers till 7pm. I'm sure you can see the conflict already. I ordered an Antec nine hundred and it was scheduled for delivery today. Of course, you'd assume that UPS would have done enough deliveries (My school's been here since 1867) here to know the hours, and deliver in them. Delivery attempt was made at 5:30PM. It failed. I give UPS a call asking what's up, and when to expect a redeliver attempt. They say "at the same time tomorrow." Of course... one would wonder why, if the reason on the exception is that the receiving room was closed, they would deliver at the same time the next day. After explaining my issue to several UPS employees and being transferred left and right, I find out that No, they can't pull the package off of the truck so i can just go pick it up myself. No, they can't deliver before a specific time, and no, they won't refund shipping costs if it doesn't make it to me before being re-routed to the shipper. The town that the packaging distribution center is located in is 30 minutes from my location. The truck left at 5:30 AM, and got here at 5:30 PM. Am I so wrong in being pissed off at their messup? They would have kept trying to deliver ~5pm as far as i know. | ||

| Nope. Depends on what kind of shipping you paid for. The express couriers have deadlines to meet and if your shipper chose the lowest priority shipping (or you selected it to save some bucks), then obviously it'll be the last one off the truck. Someone else has paid extra money to have their stuff delivered in the morning...you probably didn't. Sorry to sound so cruel, but what I said is how the business operates. Just because it left on the truck at 5:30 a.m. doesn't mean that it's going directly to your house. | ||

negative. i have classes on mondays and wednesdays from 3:45pm to 7:15PM rob- the main thing is, it's a State University college campus. The USPS, UPS, and FedEx should know the hours of our package system. Last edited by The_Motivator; 31-January-07 at 11:27 PM..

And your campus should know their delivery times too. So this is the shippers problem how? ![]()

lol... like i said, state university... they won't pay for students to work the extra hour if they don't feel the need to.

Just saying - it's not the shippers fault. They more move volume than your campus collects obviously. Also if it's UPS you can put a hold on it so when it's unloaded from the truck it won't be reloaded in the morning so you can pick it up at their regional hub in the afternoon.

| This is no help but...I haven't used UPS for years but I'm not a business either. I used to be able to go to their station & pick stuff up when I missed the delivery but that was a long time ago and a fairly small town. It really does seem unreasonable you can't do that. I live very close to DC now, so you can imagine how busy they are around here, and I've never had a problem like yours. Believe me I ONLY use their normal/cheapest rate too. | ||
