Default Thanksgiving blues...

Well, this morning we had plans to have my parents and a couple of friends over for dinner...

My parents mistook something I said, and decided not to come... which I found out like two hours before we were supposed to start eating when I called them to confirm. They blame me for this mix-up...

They're the last family I have left at all (that I'm in contact with), so it's kind of harsh.

So we had a fight that managed to span an hour...

So they're not coming, and we're feeling a bit hurt...

Then both of our friends said they'll swing by if they have time because they have actual family functions to attend... which is kind of a slap in the face as well...

I'm thankful I have my girlfriend... without her, I probably would have spent today by ordering a pizza and playing video games all damn day all while telling myself I didn't care...

People suck...

That's why we don't do family anymore. It's just us, it's comfortable, and there are minimal hassles. I'm not saying that outside relations like parents or in-laws are not important, but the only people I need close to me are my children and my wife. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Before I left for NTC the end of last month, it was looking like a trip to the parents' house, so I could meet my niece and see my brother and sister again... The air fare was going to break us bad, so we postponed until Xmas... So while I was off playing in the desert, he wife went and bought a 16-lb bird in the thought that we might have my squad over, in case any of them weren't going home for the 4-day weekend... None of them decided to stay in town and take me up on the offer...

Sucks that they didn't come over, but it's good that they were able to call me from their parents' houses to let me know they made it safe and to wish me a Happy Thanksgiving... That, and for a 16-lb bird between two adults and a toddler, I'm gonna have some turkey and Miracle Whip samiches for quite a few days afterwards...
