| Da' Jersey Kid | I'm currently dating this chick who is from eastern europe, and I think the accent is still pretty sexy, but some people think it's annoying and I do find myself saying "what" a bit often...where you any of you draw a line? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I recently switched to the parts department at work and today I had a guy with a Spanish accent call and ask for a meter switch. I told him I had no idea what a meter switch was. We went back and forth for two or three minutes before I realized he was asking for a mirror switch. We both had a good laugh and his switch is now on order. Anyway, back to your problem. I think eventually you will get used to her accent and won't have to ask what so often. As for the people who find it annoying it seems to me it's their problem, not yours.

Theres no such thing as an 'english accent'. We invented the language, this is how is spoken properly.

With all due respect, I must disagree with you :>) If what you say were true ,then why does an Englishman's accent change so often as he moves up in society? And for that matter, why do English accents vary from generation to generation so often? Very few 30 year old English today speak the way their equivalent did before WW!!. And you surely know how in public schools and universities speech often is distinctly different from school to school. Believe me I'm not trying to be difficult but I do think a bit of enlightenment is due. Back on subject, I find quite a few of the Eastern European accents pleasant and yes even sexy especially when a woman is speaking, but not often from a man.

With all due respect, that wasn't a 100% serious comment, although you do have a point. If you want to hear English spoken properly, take a trip to the home counties, i.e. Hertfordshire, Essex, Kent, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, and formerly Berkshire and Middlesex. Be sure to avoid the USA and Chinese take aways, prime examples of mispoken English
