| I haven't told anyone here about my Mom, but I'm going nuts and I need help. Last Tuesday she fell and broke she hip. They fixed it the next morning and sent her to a Medical & Rehabitiation Hospital. She's 81 years old and has bones like pototo chips. For the first time in my life, I fell so helpless. She will never be able to walk again. | ||

| How did they fix it, lokies_mom? Did they set it & immoblize it to heal? Or otherwise, does it mean the surgeon doesn't see an artificial hip as a valid option? Or any other means to restore her pedriatic health? I can feel your pain, though.... I work at the geriatric (elderly) department of the local psychiatric hospital... Unfortunately, I see these things happening all the time... I really hope they will find a solution.... all I can say is (as a Christian) is pray & keep the faith... Don't know if it is any comfort to you but I'll light a candle & say a prayer tonight... Just a thing I have to do & always do when someone is in need... TDR | ||

| Mom, I don't know if I can offer you any sort of solace or consolation, but I went through something similar with my grandmother... Living abroad and only coming to the US every four years, I didn't get to see the transformation that cancer wrought on her frail body. When I did see her, I couldn't see straight I was crying so hard, just seeing her in pain. All I could do was spend every possible moment with her, and hope and pray for the pain to go away somehow... I'd like to think that my being there was some sort of comfort for her, but I just don't know for sure. For whatever my word is worth upstairs, you have my promise to pray for her and for you, for both of your pains, that they may be at the very least diminished, if not taken away completely. In the meantime, spend as much time as you can with her... | ||

| My mom wanted me to post something here....To be honest I keep most of my family stuff off line. I know allot of you care about the rest of us and I know the ones that do say prayers do. Thank you for all your support, I love my G-ma as much as my mom does and it hurts not being there to help out. I will however be there in January and get to see my family again. Once again thank you for your wishes and Prayers, they do not go unnoticed. | ||

| I don't know what else to say here, but I am really sorry to hear about your mother, and your grandmother, Lokie. These things are scarry. My grandmother broke her hip somewhere between three and four years ago, getting the paper. We were all terrified, my dad especially. And as HTRN said, she'll still be in your life and some good may come from it. Im not saying it's good, but you may learn something about each other. I wish all of you the best of luck. | ||

| Hello, I`m Really sorry To hear about what happened to your mom/g-mom but as for not walking again, I thinks there is hope! the same thing happened to my grand ma 4 years ago, she fell and broke her left hip just below the bone, she was 75 at the time, the doctor said that she could use and artificial hip and they got her into surgery only to then find out the her osteoporosis (im not sure I spell it ok) id not allow the artificial hip to be placed... So the cementet the leg bone to the hip, thus makin one of her leg shorter an with no hip movement.... she belived tha she was boun to a weelchair. However 3 years ago she started some physiotheraphy and a year latter she was able to Wlak unsing Only a Walker!!! now she is starting to try nad use only a cane! so keep the hope up at give it some time..... My best wishes. Miguel. | ||

| This is why I started this thread. I spend everyday with my mom and help her in all ways. I enjoy doing this and spend the day helping the other old fokes too. LOL. They all smoke ! So I take turns with them pushing them out side for a quick one. To hot to stay outside long. Then I come home and fix my husband dinner and we talk for a bit, he falls asleep. My sister came to town today and I get tomarrow off. HOT DAMN ! Going to get a 18 pack and watch the DAMN RACES !!! | ||
