Yeah, STFU, ignore it and go love and care for her. I dealt with this problem for many years with my Grandmother as she was disabled. I just wish she had lived to 86.

i was beginning to wonder if anyone here was cool headed...

yes it is my first time and if it was normal or not was one of the things i was trying to find out...shoulda put that in there...thanks for the reasoned response

*Damnit, lost another typed thread by timeout....grr.*

Anyways, the gist of what I had written is that a few people took the first post wrong (IMO) and considered it a complaint rather than the question that it was intended to be.
mazura then threw out an inflammatory phrase (intentional?) when he felt misunderstood (the high horse comment).
Feathers were ruffled.
Bandwagon bashers jumped in to help (when their help was not even close to being needed or necessary)
Situation escates to it's current status.

Even with that entire situation being inflammatory on both sides now, I will offer my opinion which oddly enough mirrors much of what has been said here already but without getting bent in the process.

If you think of all the times your grandmother likely wiped your ass when you were too young to even remember soiling your trousers, or any other number of things along those lines.... then the answer should be obvious. Deal with the smell and care for your grandmother just like she did for you. Outside of that you could likely use some talcum powder of something along those lines.
I am sure we all realize that you love your grandmother, but your choice of words was likely not the best for the situation.

very well then...even though i believe the Dr.Phil bandwagon has been just as offensive as the subject of the thread (as i'm sure it was intended to be) and childish, i offer my apologies...though i doubt they will be accepted...

in light of the fact that this thread has unintentionally brought up bad memories and offended many members, i make the following request...

if possible, i would like one of the admin's to delete this thread so as to cause no further offense...if this is something i can do let me know...

It's ok to make mistakes,it's how you deal with it that makes the difference.

Apology accepted.

Chances are the smell is going to be ingrained in her skin and clothes. Even a bath cannot remove it when you put clean clothes back on that have been "Soaked" with her scent for so long.

If it bothers you that much, get that stuff Coroner's put under there nose when examining dead bodies.

You could also get her perfume for X-Mas or a B-Day...but chances are she is beyond the point of caring, and probably cannot smell it as others have mentioned.

This is a real issue that needs to be talked about, we all want to take care of our elders and there are going to be problems not easily solved or dealt with, advice is often needed.

I hope that this has been a learning experience for you...some of our longtime members have very large fangs that come out in a heartbeat, they will tell it like it is if they think you are whining unnecesarily.

Choose your words a bit more carefully if you want to avoid conflicts in the future

It's been awhile, have you come to terms with his issue?

This thread wont be deleted, it's something you had the balls to bring up but just didn't use the right words.

oh yeah...well you're a towel...

for fks sake...i didn't have a problem getting neg'd from the two who felt like i disrespected them...but for you to neg me after i had tried to smooth things over with them (and anyone else who got bent up) really shows your ass...i considered responding in the same manner you did, but i'm trying to leave my rage and judgementalism behind me...

while thinking about how i was going to reply, i remembered something someone far wiser than i once said, "never argue with a chicken-head, she'll just bring you down to her level and beat you with experience"...that's you peaches...
