![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Speaking of old sci-fi does anybody remember "Otherworld"? I know it was cheesy but it is one of the first true sci-fi shows that I remember as a kid, the other one was "V". BTW with so many bad remakes of old movies I am quite shocked that the remakes of the older sci-fi series turned out to be so good (BSG and Dr. Who). I heard that there is going to be a remake of the prisoner.

| Da' Jersey Kid | God...talking about old nastagia shows of the SciFi nature...Does anyone remember a series about a kid that is in a coma and has adventures in his dreams, meanwhile every end of the episode they'd show the mother or father looking over the kid...and every now and then.......OMFG DID HE JUST BLINK ON COMMAND!?!? You know....with the Terri Schivo thing, I'm not surprised if that series never sees the light of day again... ......I think it was called Odduesy (major sp) |

Don't think "Otherworld" was "aired" here but "V" sure was! Loved it!!! I grew up with Space 1999, Blake's 7, Doctor Who, BattleStar Galactica, Star Trek (re-runs.. I'n not THAT old..)... loved all of them... Those series made me "dive" into SciFi (and lateron into Fantasy) literature.... TDR

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I used to watch Space 1999 too, but I was really young at the time. That was probably my first exposure to sci-fi (and re-runs of star trek off course...). I think what really made me a sci-fi fan were books like "Lucky Star..." by Isaac Asimov.

I would like to thank Edgar Rice Burroughs and his Mars series on "Barsoom". Isaac came latter.

![]() | this is yet more evidence that humans are a poor excuse for an intelligent life form... i went to sci-fi's website awhile back to complain about their butt-munchin' commercials being as loud as a rock concert...couldn't find a way to contact them...all they wanted to do was advertise their programming and sell stuff... |

| PCApex Review Editor | Man, SciFi just hasn't been the same for years . . . I think it was when the USA network started buying up EVERY other freakin channel they could . . . But that's why wrestling is on SciFi. USA Networks couldn't find any other place to stick it and the WWE ppl were offering too much money for it NOT to be aired. *shakes head* I miss the old days of decent television. |

| Mystical Schwinn Guru | On a sidenote, what the @$#@ if this reality TV crap I hear about? Last I checked we didn't eat live scorpions on our way to work in the morning. We don't sleep in a pile of snakes. 95% of us can't sing for **** (and neither can many of the people on American Idol) Network programming sucks. |

I didn't ask for a review 4x0n! Most? Nah..one here and there...I was pretty little then anyhow...back then I hated the Wonder Years....and now.....omg....great stuff...But back to the issue at hand: Until Stargate comes back...I see no reason (other than watching X-Files (and when are they going to get episodes from the final season!?!)) to watch SciFi.... Actually, I DID catch this crap known as "ECW" and saw the least inspired champion/redneck-drunk character beat the crap out of the even more so less inspired "zombie" character, with a cane (that WAS funny) but seeing the redneck spit beer 30 times wasn't...

Gotta luv E.R. Burroughs, the "Pulicidar" stuff was great too. Also H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, Robert Silverberg, Robert Heinlein, Andre Norton, Ursula K. Leguin. I could go on, but I'm dating myself. But I gotta agree with HTRN. Sci-Fi channel should be for science fiction and fantasy. Not bad horror, not paid hour long commercials and definitely not wrestling. I can think of dozens of old Sci-fi TV shows I'd rather see than a lot of the current crap. Lost in Space, Voyage to the bottom of the sea, Invaders, UFO, old Doctor Who re-runs, The Prisoner, SeaQuest DSV, Invisible man, Lexx, Red Dwarf, Outer LImits, Night Gallery, The Avengers, Logan's Run, Max Headroom. Many old TV shows and movies would be better than the low budget garbage coming from them lately and even the bad old ones have camp value. Corin Nemec as a WWII solier fighting a German monster....puh leeze, the thing looked like a first generation 3D video game poorly dubbed onto the screen. And they play the same crappy made for TV garbage over and over and over.
