Default Cat in heat

Besides getting her spayed, is there anything we can do to make her more comfortable? When ever (partically me) her name gets called she assumes the position (those who have cats know what I mean) for mating. We are getting her spayed sometime this week, but we were delayed on account I wanted to use the vet, instead we (my mom) decided shes going to use some van (no, not a back ally one). Its the teamsters or what ever van. They do things like give shots to cats, spaying/nuetering..etc (like a vet but cheaper, I dont know if these people are qualified or what) But I really dont trust those types of things, Fear of those PETA people who abuse animals for one.. or not being qualified.

So is there anything we can do to calm her down a bit? We tried playing with her and it only worked for 5 minutes or so, but I found if we ignore her "callings" she will go some where and sleep.

EDIT- Its called the TEAM Mobile Feline Unit. Link to site:http://www.everyanimalmatters.org/

That is your best bet is to just ignore her Nerdz, i have been there before and it can get to be really annoying with her crying out for a mate, if you know what i mean so that would be my sugestion on that till you get her spaded, i would not trust those other people you are talking about, i definately would bring her to a certified vet. I have heard some really bad things about people that do what you are saying and ended up losing there pets.

Well, you really only have two options.

Take her to a vet and get her fixed. This is about the kindest thing you can do to a cat unless you plan on breeding the cat. Takes all the jitteryness out of them.

Or...

...you could try to satisfy the cat yourself.

However, I would really recommend the first option.

Lolz... well... there isn't much you can do.....I've got two female cats both "fixed" now... the also "fixed" male
cat we had was the only thing that could shut them up when they were "in heat".... with the disadvantage
they kept on "doing it" right in front of you... man those cats can do it all day! A humbling expierience....
cat Pr0n....

Anyway, take her to a good vet, any cat is worth that... you don't her getting an infection or a stitch job
gone bad...

Yeah man... what they said. Getting her spade is pretty much the only way to get your cute, friendly (but not TOO friendly) cat back. When they go into heat they are just a pain to be around. Luckily my two female cats were spade before they ever went into heat.

Glad to see she is not in heat anymore Nerdz, but i would still get her spaded when you can afford it, because she will keep going through all those episodes and you will have to keep going through them also with her, unless you decide you want to get her a male companion and have a whole bunch of little ones then you will definately have your hands really full then.

Getting her spayed is worth it in the long run, and could increase her lifespan according to some statistics.

For a while, you'd have to refrain from picking it up or giving it any temptation to attempt jumping because of the stitches. There's also the part where she has to walk off the drugs, she might try climbing up a step and end up falling back down because of her impared coordination.

So when you call the cat's name, it assumes the mating position? Ever hear of Pavlov?

Well she finally got spaded, but she changed. Shes a bit more calmer, and its been about a month since he got spaded. But now shes changed. When ever I try to pet her when shes lying down, she trys to attack me (well bite me) First its small bites with some licking, but if I keep trying to pet her, she bites me even harder. She hasnt drawn blood yet though. She acts friendly, the the moment you try to pet her, she trys to bite you.

She never used to do this, shes 1 year old now, any reason why she would do this?

Then again, there has been a couple cats around the neighbor hood, could they effect her attitude? We are thinking of getting another cat for her (a kitten), but with the way she acts around the cats outside and we are having second thoughts.

She might of interpreted the procedure as an unpleasant experience and is probably blaming you for the ordeal. Try using treats and toys to show her that you're her buddy and she might start forgiving/trusting you again.

If she did have a bad experience then she might think that every time you reach for her you're putting her through that again, and the bites are warnings that will move up in severity if you don't leave her alone.
