Thumbs down Math and programming is hard!

Man I knew college wasnt going to be easy but damn coding is too hard. I am starting to fall behind in the class and trying to hold a job in the mean time is kicking my ass. I am currently trying to pay for college (and some other various debts...) which isnt too reassuring. At this point I am starting to think about changing majors. I dont know if what I choose will be feasable. If I make it to fall next year without failing a class I am going to stick with it, otherways I might be completely fu*ked. Things are starting to pile up and it sucks. I guess the reason for this thread is to forewarn all of you people still in high school, college is hard...

Wait until you get a professor who doesn't like you. Or anyone else, for that matter. And yes, if you haven't had any programming experience, computer science assignments will take multiple hours until completion.

If you haven't yet, buy a planner, and learn time managment. Planning down to the 15mins can gain some precious moments when you least expect/ most need them.

Dude... having been in the workforce long enough...

Stick it out, try harder! Life may be a bitch now, but if you can tough it out, it'll improve the rest of your life!

I'm trying to get back to college 'cause if I can get a bachelor's degree, I can make between 10 and 20,000 more a year! I've got roughly 10 grand into my education already, but it's useless without a bachelor's degree so far!

I'm trying to afford my 10 year old car, while fighting off the forces of evil (damn car insurance companies). I'm trying to get "officially" hired at a job that is promising me pure stress and 60 to 90 hour work weeks. If it doesn't go through, I'll be back at square one 'cause where-as I have l337 skills at computer hardware, it ain't worth it without the software/programming. All of this could have been avoided if I had a damn degree...

That stupid piece of paper is worth it... just keep telling yourself it's hard now, but it'll pay!

That should be: Math and programming ARE hard! Apparently English is rather difficult as well.

Stick with calculus but drop programming. Calc will help you i many careers, but programming is a very hard field to get into, as the market for the job is flooded. Remember that there are lots of kids going to college/university that have self tought themselves how to program in several languages before they are out of highschool, so they got a huge advantage, plus all the other regulars who have learned it in post secondary but cant get a job because of the scarcity. Wages/Salaries for programmers is going down on a general basis, due both to the kids who self teach themselves at home and grab jobs before college, but also things like open source software is limiting the amount of payed jobs available. Get out well u can! The technology age broke back when the internet bubble popped. If u got into the industry maybe a decade or more ago, heck even half a decade ago, you would be rolling in $$$, but now its useless

The degree is worth the pain. DarkSamurai speaks with wisdom. I won't state what I make per year but it is over $20,000 more than what I would pull down if I hadn't fought for a degree.

Find a smart, good looking girl in the same classes, and ask her to tutor you. Two problems solved! That is my math lesson for today.
