Well im kinda lookin for advice on a subject im not too familiar with at all. I think im in love with my girlfriend, but everytime i get ready to confess my undying love for her i start to tear up! I get so embarrassed that i have to change the subject immediately for fear of letting her see me. Im so tempted to just abandon all reason and give way to my reckless love for her, but my mind just tells me its foolish, cause she wont love me back when she sees that i am crying. So my real question is it alright to cry in front of my girlfriend?

Don't listen to all this foolishness, Sparky! I think it's really damned inspiring that you love her that deeply, you are very fortunate because **** like that, well... it just doesn't happen often, and for some people it never happens at all.

BUT! I say don't cry if you can help it. It's not about not showing your emotions, it's just ... oh man, there are a thousand ways that I shouldn't say this. Ya know, it depends really. If I were a girl and a guy couldn't help but tear up confessing his love to me, I think I would be truly touched. But... that kind of thing scares girls, too. Also, most girls I know don't want someone to share tears with, thats what other girls are for. The problem with a lot of intelligent men is that they are too sensitive and this is a huge turnoff to most women--they may say it's not, they may say they want a sensitive guy, but they don't. It's a lie.

You are worried that she doesn't love you back? How long have you two been together? I kinda agree with the alcohol idea... Wine is nice, and if anything should go wrong, then maybe it was just the wine talking... but that could also detract from the purity of the moment, if your going for that kinda thing.

I don't find anything wrong with crying in front of the GF. If you love her you should be able to be around her no matter what, you can't just drive her away to shield her from your true self.

Just becareful when you think you love her, I've felt that way about 2 women in my life now and both ended up destroying me in the end.

It's your fcking party, cry if you want to dude. Don't be afraid, you've really got something special going for you. Break down and tell her, and I think she'll understand. If you've been holding it back for this long, there has to be some sort of emotional buildup. More than likely she'll understand.

Just say it, dude. If you have to, do what I did, let it slip in gradually. We were talking about the extent of our relationship, where it had gone, and it got to the stage where we were both basically saying "I always had the feeling it would work out with you," and there it was; the perfect opportunity to say what you want, and if you're lucky, she'll be tearyeyed enough to not see you cry.

Though if she would hate you for crying, she'd probably hate you for loving her, too.
