| This is about the time a Bedouin got the jump on me in the middle of nowhere. Towards the end of the war, the Divisions were moving so fast that a lot of equipment and supplies were left behind. Whenever we stopped for a couple of days and had all the tents up, sandbags filled, and bunkers dug, me and one of my soldiers would jump in Bertha and go on scrounge missions. Bertha was my 1960's 5 ton truck. We would find all kinds of good stuff; water heaters, rations and water, fuel, etc... On one of these scrounge missions I came over the top of a hill and at the bottom was an old Bedouin and a young child kneeling on the ground with arms outstretched and they were loudly praying. Their little white pickup truck was stuck in a wadi (mudhole) all the way up to the bumper. There was nobody else around for miles and miles, so I don't know what would have happened to them if we hadn't shown up. Carpenter, my soldier, pulled a chain out of the back of the truck and wrapped it around the front axle (getting pretty muddy in the process) and I gently pulled the pickup out of the wadi with Bertha. After it was out, I rolled back a little to give the chain some slack and Carpenter went to the pickup to retreive the chain. By this time I had opened the door and was shutting Bertha down. All of a sudden this Bedouin came from nowhere, grabbed my boot and started to yank me out of the cab. My M16 was on the seat next to me and I grabbed for it as he was pulling me out but the strap got tangled on something inside. I hit the ground on one leg and the Bedouin who was on his knees now grabbed that leg also. By now I was pulling my bayonet out of the sheath and was ready to go to town. But I noticed a funny thing, this dude was kissing my muddy boots. He shouted at the boy and the boy kneeled in front of me also. Then both started clapping their hands, rocking back and forth, and the old dude was crying while he shouted to Allah. I was still a little shaken up that he managed to separate me from my M16, but I started to understand what was going on. He had gotten his truck stuck with this child and he knew he was in deep trouble because he was way out in the middle of the desert. So what does he do? What every faithful Muslim does, he started praying to Allah to save him. Then, lo and behold, a 5 ton truck comes rolling over the hill and pulls him out. To him, I was truly divine intervention. | ||

That makes about as much sense as saying what BA did proves that not all Americans are bad. Stereotypes perpetuated by governments/religions/races all over the world are what keep humans fighting each other day in and day out, year after year, decade after decade. We are all humans, we all live on this same large rock, breath the same air , and we all have red blood. Anyone happen to remember the story about the tower of Babel? Nuff said! For F*@k's sake! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Sorry I should have worded it different but I am not impartial, I had my skull cut open to remove fragments of steel from my head from an iraqi RPG(rocket propelled grenade) I now have a permanant hairline across the top of my head, and I am embarassed of the whole prisoner mistreatment thing. Yeah, I do.....I'm getting a headache trying to read your sig. ![]() P.S. Since you are somewhat new and may not have figgered it out yet, that was not intended as hostile (although true), just consider me one of the resident smart-asses. P.P.S. Fluffy made me misspell figured, said it would make me sound cool just like all the suburban white rappers. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
