Default Don't Hold Back

This post is a result of some feedback I received from a few PM's and forum responses that were posted.

I am a computer geek first class. My job is to mess with computers all day, and when I get home my hobby is to mess with computers all night.. But that doesn't mean I'm an expert.

I joined PR because of the collaborative knowledge on our site. I was a member of several other large sites before I found PR, but quickly dropped the others because there was no need to surf elsewhere.

After a while, GlitterKill decided to make me a mod because of my dedication to the advancement of our site. I was completely blown away when he asked me to be an admin and I take my duties very seriously.

But you know what? I don't know everything. There may be times that I post something that may not be correct or the right information. That's when I count on you folks to keep my ass in line. I'm still learning just like the rest of you. What I don't want is for you to support me if I'm wrong just because I'm a mod. If I screw something up, tell me. I would really appreciate that.

Thankfully, up to this point, I've never been wrong.

Im scared to correct the mods....mostly in fear that they had a crappy day and my post will tip them over the edge and get my postcount reset to 0.

As long as it's not brought up in a confrontational manner, I know the other mods (GlitterKill and DuckWarrior) will take it as constructive advice.

Well, I was going to make light of this and perhaps post this in the quotes thread........... but then I thought better of it since you were kind enough to admit that you are fallible just like the rest of us.
You just gained even more respect from me for that.

Well now that you mentioned it BA,
I have a little something I can't hold back...
I know you are a very busy man,
and you put in long hours like alot of folks.
But Bro it used to be a hell-alot easier to find and read one of your insightful_informative_tounge in cheek_reprimand_smack-down posts, that kept me looking for more , more , more!
You know, those history making "one liners" that spawned all kinds of new projects...
I'm glad I got that off my chest...
**looks at BA's 8335 post count**
Dam, I must be blind!

Id say we all acount for some form of knowlege on this site.

Zenn is deffinantly the Poseidon of the water league - his mad ideas and completly unchallenged ways with water are the sign for many of us to ask him lots of questions.

DigitalWorld and Ducati (sp?) certainly have a way with modding - no problem with Ducati's range of modding ideas and techniquies, and digital worlds water system convinced me to mod to water - financialy im still out of that area ...for now.

JE show a unique side to computing - especially with the copper plated amiga which happily ticks away in a gleeming case.

I see myself as an old skool info giver - I was fixed into the early pentium and 486 area - I occasionally setup a socket 3 system and overclock it from 100 to 166 and above to see what i can get out of it - the day I install windows XP onto a 486 I will write it up here - I have the specs I need - its a case of getting a good overclock. COAST socket systems were a laugh (Cache On A STick) that little upgrade made all the difference back then.

So I guess we all make PR what it is today - I must say it has to be one of the fastest moving sites on the net - sometime your thread and problem will be answered within the hour - that helps soooo much somtimes, and im proud to be a part of the whole works.

We all do what we can to help PR, and it is all we can do.

I don't think of BA or DW or the rest as mods, I think of them as fellow friends. We work together to make this place the best that we can. We try to be informative and helpful, and we're more than willing do verbally hoeslap people who deserve it. The mods just hit a little harder.

I am proud to be a member of this community, and I am proud to know people such as all of you. I know if/when I have/had problems, you will/have help/helped me out. I appreciate it more than you will ever know.

Thanks for stepping to the plate, BA, and thanks to the rest of you for making this community what it is.

I think BA has made a good point......It's up to all of "US" here to keep things going and that includes "everyones" advice..........sometime we're thinking in a different direction than what's intended.........Hey, when I'm wrong....I try to right it.......and that goes for the rest of us here........but.....that's what makes it great and all of us continuing to come back day-in-and-day-out.........

Take a stop by my fibre channel thread and give it a read...seems as though most people don't know any specifics about it, and since a post from you is lacking I'm assuming something

hey BA, you know what, i'm really getting tired of people "posing just to post"

when i'm at a level that i can confidently correct you, i'll make sure i do, and with a degree of pride, but that day is far in the future, if ever.

Well there are right ways to be right . Think of it like someone havin' their fly down during a office party, off to the side say something, don't be disrespectful and say "HEY EVERYONE! Someone's barn door is open.".

Well, i see things this way. There are two ways to be wrong

1) Honest mistake, assumption, typo, etc. that is acceptable.

2) Purposely misleading, asinine information that has no proof and cannot be backed up by the (cough*LIAR*cough) to try to impress others.

one is easily corrected and resolved.

number two usually results in a flame war, caused by a moron.

I have never seen a moderator, or anyone of good standing on this forum revert to method two, so the fact that BA has to 'apoligize' for honest mistakes upsets me. Make the number 2 posters apoligize first.

Nev_Payne: "Id say we all acount for some form of knowlege on this site."

to the number 2 posters:
lying is not a form of knowledge. If your most l337 skill as computers go is "multitasking" between yourself and surfing porn, don't try to post as a master of all that is binary. if you can't honestly add worthwhile information, please don't post and make an a$$ of yourself.

done. now i need to get a dew and a cookie.

Mr. Poop, I'm not clear on what you are saying. I would appreciate it, Mr. Poop, if you would clarify what you mean. After all, Mr. Poop, your opinion is greatly appreciated, Mr. Poop.
