| Yeah, I'm seriously considering making the swap. I'm fed up with this. My BIOS corrupted itself today (it's a DFI, they have been doing that) at STOCK settings. Every so often, a part goes out, forcing me to replace costly parts FAR too often. When that doesn't happen, I'm patching Windows, recovering lost files, rigging wires, something. Even when I leave everything stock, it dies. So, I think I want a Mac. Once again, I am serious, this is not a joke. I am considering parting out my rig and making the swap. I have a 1700 pali in storage that I can use if I do that and HAVE to have a PC. What I want to know is what kind of processor I want if I get one, if you know. It'll be used mostly for graphics, though I will have to load up Diablo 2... I can't afford a good laptop that's PC based, or if I could, I'd have to go put Linux on it so I could be virus-free (if you work removing them, you learn to HATE them) and secure (nothin like seeing your files on someone else's computer) and that's a pain in the ass. Seeing as I'm not much of a gamer, you guys think it's worth it? | ||

| Wow, when I saw the thread title I thought you meant use Intel... anyways; sounds like you've got a mobo issue on your hands ATM. Then again; the no virus thing sounds nice; also what kind of graphics work? As evil as it is what if PR had the first great Mac modder??? you WOULD mod this sucka right Kayin??? | ||

| Honestly why dont you go pick up a different cheaper end board. Gigabyte makes some great boards imo, that are also on the cheaper end. If this is all still messin up then id say go for it, but i cant really see a swap like that. I definately think you should pray on it, like what was said earlier this is a life changin experience for the computer enthusiast. Hehehe ok ok maybe im goin to deep, but if you do switch that takes balls. Something i could never do. | ||

| Macs are overpriced, are often more plagued with problems than PCs, and because of the singular way Macs are marketed, they often do not get their problems addressed as quickly. Most Mac enthusiasts won't even look into buying a new mac until after it has gone through a couple revisions. I'd go with a PC, build it up for stability (intel if you've got to), and throw Mandrake on there. You'll have a nice rig going and you can overclock it if you want. | ||

| What the hell would you learn if you didn't have problems with your PC? How would you be able to market yourself? "I own a Mac and it's been very sweet and gentle since I purchased it." Not impressive. I bought an AMD rig then shorted the pins to overclock it and modded my motherboard to increase the voltage to the RAM and I keep it cool with a water rig I custom built.... Which sounds better? | ||

I might agree. I bought an iMac DV for my beach house just to give it a spin. Yeah it was the floor copy at CompUSA, but I was still pretty disappointed. Not only did it run slowly, but there was nothing I could do about it, whereas on a PC I knew what to do to troubleshoot. I disagree with Mac's being more problem free. With Macs, it's never the "my computer's screwed' problems, just a lot of minor headache ones (like running out of memory. Multi-tasking on Macs is a gigantic pain if you ask me.) The main selling points of macs are user-friendliness and fruity colors... and I feel confident enough that you, Kayin, know enough about PCs to not worry about either of those. And btw, if anybody thinks I'm talking out of my a**, feel free to tell me. I've still got an open-mind towards Macs, but there hasn't been anything that's made me want to stay. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I pretty much have to agree with sexy pants here... Albeit, my exp with macs is from the educational ones.. *cough* education on why I don't buy them... anywho... If I can't listen to mp3's in quicktime and mess around in photoshop while looking for more "stock" images on google.. *click* *static...* Houston, we have a problem here... *click* | ||
