So the barber shop I normally go to went out shut down so I had to go on the hunt for a new barber shop, I finally found one close to my house so I went to go check it out, the place had pool tables, arcade games loud music, and it took forever for them to cut a persons hair, I didn't stay there and I was able to find another barber shop, they didn't speak English but they understood what I wanted and they did a pretty good job.

It just seems that now days they are trying to make everything "fun", even at church they changed some of the masses where everything is more "hip" i guess, there is a rock band playing, everything is over the top, and the mass takes way longer than the normal mass.

I just wish that people would stick to what they do and get the job done, if I wanted to have fun, I would go to a movie or out with my friends. Am I dieing breed or do others agree with me?

No, actually everyone that's selling any/everything seems to feel the need for a gimmick or three to get the butts in the seats, ie: their money.

There are still some businesses that still cater to us "Get in, get it done, and get out" folks, but they are getting harder and harder to find... Rebates, dancing girls with pom-poms et al, you name it, it's out there, vying with the good old-fashioned Mom-N-Pop businesses that give you the bottom-line experience at the bottom-line price...

As for your barber shop, funny thing you should mention it, but it sounds just like the "Barbershop" movies with Ice Cube...

Some of my best barber shop memories are of the AAFES barber shops in Korea, where the Ajimas would literally beat the crap out of you after they got done cutting and clipping...

Here's how i found my barbershop. I got a bad haircut, pissed off i went to CVS and got a $15 pair of clippers, I've cut my own hair ever since.

I hope you're better at it than I am... Last time I cut my own hair, it looked like I had been ambushed by a complete lawncare ensemble, edger and all... Had to end up shearing it all off (not quite "BIC" length, but close enough)

I'm not a big fan of my AAFES barber(too much get in get out for my taste), but the e-club has a nice barber shop in it. Two Barber chairs, about six customer waiting chairs, and thats it. They are very old school in their approach. Hot lather and a straight razor shave for the back of your neck and sideburns. A nice neat trim, and then they vacuum your head. Very nice, plus there is never a line bigger then two. The price for such a commodity, like seven bucks(10 for me after tip). If your a civilian, they do beard/mustache trims for like 4 bucks, and a combo price of 10 bucks.

I didn't mean that I like ANY AAFES barber... Just the ones in Korea... A beat-down massage on the back of your neck and shoulders, the way those ladies did it, you won't need to get a "Happy Ending", but you walk out feeling about the same...

"Luckily" with my job - I buzz it every time. I get to much steel dust in my hair to have any length - it makes it to much of a hassle to clean. I've paid an entire 0 dollars to barbers in the last three years. Doesn't make sense to have hair if every day you have to spend 10+ minutes just getting steel dust/fish guts out of it.
