Just ranting over my own stupidity ... and needed somewhere to piss & moan (couldn't find the piss and moan thread, for some reason ...)

On the way home from work on Thur, stopped off to pick up some milk for the wife and child. Car wouldn't start back up ... dead battery. But it's after six, and the maintenance shops are all closed, so I have my wife pick me up and leave the car in the grocery store parking lot.

Found out today that said lot is not actually owned by the grocery store, which is surprising because it's a major market shareholder kind of store. Turns out the lot is private property, so guess what? Car has been towed.

Now I'm being hit up for a $275 towing charge because my car was taken ... how far? ONE MILE!

$275 per mile.

I'm obviously in the wrong business. Think I'll go out and buy a pickup truck, because working as a level 4 systems engineer at Boeing doesn't pay half that much.

Apparently, a college education isn't necessary to make good money. You just need a complete lack of scruples.

U need to look into a battery jumper, normally under $30 and keep it in the trunk.

Just curious but don't you have a set of booster cables, you could have just hooked them up to wife car and boost your car or anyone else that is willing to give you a boost, that could have saved you alot of stress and headaches.

Sorry to hear that you have to pay to get your car back, but one things for sure you will not be doing that again unless you find out from the management if is ok to leave your car in the parking lot over night.

Your right there, I dont have any formal education besides a high school degree and i pull a little under 70k a year. Granted i dont drive a tow truck, but just the same i dont have any class time under my belt.

Honestly felt sorry for your situation and all until you wrote those last few lines. Best of luck getting your car fixed and retrieving it from the uneducated jerk thats got you by the balls. Heres to common sense.

My apollogies, man. I didn't meant to sound condescending or disparaging, just so totally pissed at myself that I railed at whatever came to mind -- I meant to imply that my own education was wasted, not that folks without college degrees can't make good money. I can see how I might have come across wrong, and any offense was unintentional.

As for the idea of the battery charger or the jumper cables ... yeah, I got 'em! 20 minutes of jumping, still no start. That battery was D-E-A-D dead.

might not be the battery, i mean it might be dead but if it requires that much and still nothing then u should probably get ur starter checked.

You also might want to check out the alternator or coil since it just stop working could be the alternator since it did not keep the battery charge.

That sucks godling! You have to watch where you park...

Hehe, my good friend who is a landscaper clears over 250k a year with just a high school ed. I only have a high school edu and don't make as much as him , yet.... but it is my goal.
My old boss who I took his business over was making about 300k a year. I don't even know if he graduated high school back in Ireland, he was so poor he said while he was a kid in school all his mom would pack him for lunch was a potato.

Yeah, I'm paranoid about that kind of thing. My truck's battery finally decided to die a couple months ago, and I ended up running to an all-night Wal-Mart to get my truck home...

I ended up with my girlfriend using her headlights for me to work by... fun times were had by all...
