| The ULTRA folks have gone out of their way to support us recently by outfitting AntiM with a new/up-to-date testbed as well as a number of PSUs to our reviewers... not to mention all the review sponsorships and contests they have participated in. It feels right to give 'em credit. In actuality... most of AntiM's latest and upcoming reviews are, in fact, powered by Ultra. ![]() | ||

| I like..Ultra Man The "Origial" series I used to watch as a kid, not the newer versions that hollywood pumped out much later cause no body has any origina ideas any more...yeah it was cheasy, campy, and as an adult watching it now it would fall under the category of "Craptastic" but when I was 8 years old, he was my hero, and the "Flaws" were not obvious to such a young mind.... I realy loved how he would get in trouble, and the light would start blinking on his chest, and he would have to fly towards the sun to recharge...pretty silly now, but it captured my imagination! (Anyone old enough to remember the original Astro Boy cartoon series?) I sure hope "Ultra Products" has gotten it together, OCZ and a few other companies sold some real crap when they first got going and then made a huge turn around...I realy hate slamming there PSU's, but they were some of the worst on the market, especially if you tried to OC with one...another item that would have fell in the "Craptastic" category Loking forward to seeing how there new products rate! | ||

| I'm loving the looks of some of there new cases. Especially this one: Ultra Products - Aluminus ATX Mid-Tower Case - Black The new micro case is great. Not too small to make it a real pain to work with but plenty small enough. | ||

| Yup. I'm definatly liking my X-Finity. The voltages are for the most part solid and its quiet. My only complaint is with that it doesnt storms all that well. Last weekend we got some pretty heavy rain and thunder and it wouldn't even get past the bios. | ||

| Great job garnering the support of our sponsors!! I'm sure that will be of great benefit to the development of the site!! I'm wondering, are vistors going to perceive a certain bias towards Ultra now that they're one of our strongest "lobbyists"? I'm not trying to be negative and deflate the good news, I'm just genuinely wondering whether people would view us as not being able to give a relevant review of an Ultra product if we've got their logo juxtaposed with ours. I realize we have other advertisers and that they are advertisers for PC modding products but, those ads disappear with paid membership thus keeping all of our advertisers on a level playing field. The "Powered by Ultra" banner remains, regardless of your registration status, indicating a preference for Ultra. Again, I'm not trying to bash this move, I'm just voicing a thought. I'm fully in support of this site moving forward so please; anyone who can feel free to explain, so I can better understand. Congratulations on the support from Ultra GK!! -hartigan | ||

Your absolutely right, some may think that we can't give a unbiased review of an Ultra product because they are one of our prime advertisers. But they would be wrong. In truth, the only reason we have the support of some manufacturers is because we do give unbiased reviews. A small percentage of manufacturers have tried to influence reviews. They haven't succeeded. Some request the right to actually edit a review before it goes live. They don't get it. We will of course listen to a sponsor's concerns if we screw up, but we always maintain editorial integrity. And some have pulled out because of bad reviews. But our best supporters just keep coming back even after a less than shining review because we do try our best to do a thorough, unbiased review. We are very consistant. The "Powered by Ultra" is really no different than any other advertising on the site. It just has a unique position because of the unique way in which they are supporting PCApex. And an apt one since they will indeed be powering many of the staff's test rigs. Much of what they provided for my test rig, they don't even carry on their website and I have yet to do an Ultra review myself. In the end, it is just good exposure for Ultra. And it's a good thing for PCApex. It's not hard for us to recommend Ultra. If they are cool enought to supply us with power supplies for the staff, lot's of review items and a ton of give-away merchandise for our readers, what does that say about their customer service and commitment to the community? And I know for a fact, Ultra is hard at work improving their products. The X2's and 2G are head and shoulders above the original X-Connect. If I did give a review of the 2G I'm using, I'd give it a "Recommended" rating. Looks cool, nice cabling, solid voltages, good efficiency, good price and a lifetime warranty. I got a rock stable 700 MHz OC on stock voltages right out of the box. And I haven't even begun to tweak yet. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Thanks for the reply Anti-M! I appreciate you addressing my thoughts. I do want to say that I was DEFINITELY not questioning the integrity of our reviews. I know that we would never allow our reviews to be swayed by influence. My concern was more based on the perception that others may have when seeing the banner. I only state that so you all know I wasn't, in any way, attempting to disparage pcApex. Your reply, Anti-M, has definitely explained the adoption of "Powered by Ultra" very well. Thank you. -hartigan | ||
