Default Open source section?

Linux is taking a big move in todays world, and as i write paper after paper about linux as an alternative, free applications that increase productivity, and other open source benifits. I find that our awesome site doesn't have an open source section.

Being that even my school is advancing in the open source world, (finally they switched to OpenOffice, although i think it had something to do with licenses expiring) I feel that my favorite place on the web could use a little bit of free stuff talk.

We have a linux OS troubleshoting section, what about a open source section?

This is a much better idea than making an Audio related section.

As a Ubuntu user for a solid straight year , you have my vote.

Since Open Source/Free Software covers all of the major OS's, and this IS PCApex, and PC's are really OS agnostic now, this is a fantastic idea.

Looks like its gots ground, I'me working on a few open source projects right now too. Would love to paste them into our new open source section.

I like the idea, could be implimented as simply as adding a "and Open Source" on the end of our Linux forum

The problem with just putting it in the Linux section is that it infers that Open Source is ONLY for Linux, and for those who don't really know any better, it could cause some confusion.

While it's true they are closely tied together, one does not equal the other.

Well I would have thought the "and" would have made that clear. What exactly did the OP have in mind for this section?

Open source software, unix, linux, open source code, and anything else that might pop up.

It would just be nice to fill an awesome section up with free stuff, and it totally be legal.

Sourceforge is a great resource indeed. I had a couple other great Open Source project sites as well, but can't find the links . . . I'll have to dig and find them again.
