| Well i recently bought a 40$ CPU. It was a A64 Sempron 2800+, as i bought it i asaid it looks nice, it may be low clocks, but it can OC good. I ran this thing and within 10 minutes, i was alreay 1100MHz over stock speeds, and could keep going. Right after i get ome more tweaking in, I'm sure i can get 2.9 or higher, and with a chiller, i could bench at that speed. But for now i only ran 2880MHz, but its nice to see, i even had it a 2.84GHz with 236 MHZ on my DDR-400 from ultra, and got sandra to bench, which for the nice little Noctua 92MM cooler with a white lightning 92mm fan from areocool. All my scores i updated so far, i'll just kep tweaking and once i hit the wall i feel i need not to pass, I'll then buy a pot off planet .Figures through all my really fast benching and clocking, i ended up using the old version of CPUz nad i have to reload all those clocks to get the scores, again at a latter time. | ||

| Damm s1ugh34d! I've got the AM2 version of that. Once I get some decent thermal paste I hope I can get that close. Right now I've only raised 400mhz but i hope think that I should be able to go quite a bit farther. Any idea whats a safe operating temperature for these? +rep asap for your awesome work. ![]() | ||

| I use the DFI NF3 250GB board, with quitetweaked ultra memory, and the memory divider is insane, like 3/5 or 2/10. Really the chip has alot of power, i'm surprised how easily it surpassed my 3100+, and can still go, without much trouble, all im facing right now is really the volts, i havent really bumped it too much, with stock at 1.5, i can get to 300FSB, but i need the 1.6 for anything higher thatn 300, or at least 1.57, i moved to 1.6 for the higher clocks, and for 2.88 i needed 1.65, really im sure with lower temps it could run 2.9 on 1.6v but i dont have the chiller up and ready to run. Good luck with that AM2, i did notice the single core AM2 athlon64 3800 godfoot is running,in sisfot sandra at 2.88 he got the same range as i did at 2.84 and his 2.96 isonly a skip hop and leap away. I also notice my single core scores from before i upgraded the SP2 for windowsXP. werearound 13k in sisft as well, and thoe were at 2.9GHz, so really this is once nice chip can't wait to see what it can really do. | ||

I have been noticing the same thing over the last few days while testing the Firestix (PC2-8000), and compared to my OCZ Gold (PC2-5400) and I get very similar scores, regardless of FSB and multi combo I use to achieve 2.9x CPU speed. Not only that, but the scores are very similar regardless of what RAM timings I use as well, and I have tried with CAS 4, 5, and 6 @ both 1T and 2T. I have also seen where a lot of people are going with Everest now because of Sandra's "synthetic" results. Now I just gotta remember where I put my copy of Everest, I know it is around here somewhere.

You will notice that even an old Athlon XP can "Hang" on the Sandra CPU scores at a similar clock speed, Memeory speed will have very litte effect in this department...just remember that a AMD64, even the AM-2 vresion is little more than a Athlon XP with a on die mem controller! In 3DMARK 01, when I first made the switch from my Mobile 2500+ XP at 2.6+ to a 754 AMD 64 rig at 2.5+GHZ, the scores actually went down with my X-800 Pro! 3DMARK 05 was pretty much the same story too..but my Pi times and other tests that are more memory sensative were prettyy much blowing away the XP scores. And Slug-Bug, those 2800's are screamers for some reason, they seemed to do even better than the higher end 3000-3400+'s back in the day for Max OC's, dunno why, since they were supposed to be the low end of the spectrum..they seemd to be the 1700+ of socket 754!

| well i got a few new scores, benching at 2.85GHz today, with my ultra sticks (amazing there running over 220) and got 48.02 seconds bringing me to second place for pifast on my CPU as well as while i ran my recent pcmark study, i got 200 point gain in PCmark04 so my scores as of now SuperPI 1MB: 32.922 - I'm #7 but soon to rise in that ranking PiFast: 45.03 - #1 for my CPU PCmark04: 4312 - #2 for my CPU 3dMark01: 4454 - #1 for my GPU SANDRA: 13284 - #1 for my CPU CPU-Z: 2934 - #3 for my CPU Last edited by s1ugh34d; 22-November-06 at 10:02 PM. | ||

| what runs at 50F and has a system temp of around 32F. Well if you couldnt guess from where i posted this, it would be my sempron 2800 box (custom foam insulation box and intake) Im starting the benching now, with idle temps around 9-10C and load aroun 25C, im looking at an equivalent to my chiller, on air. | ||
